Modified 9/18/08 after being scammed myself.

We pride ourselves on being a tight-knit community of Liberty owners here, and it is this information is posted here in the interests of protecting this community.

Avoiding scams
<del>To my knowledge, there have been no incidents of scamming</del> Some of our users (myself included) have been scammed on this board, here's a few tidbits to consider before entering into a transaction. While these precautions may not prevent all incidents of scamming, they can certainly cut back on it significantly.

* Look a how long the user has been a member of the forum. This information is available by looking at the users profile.

* Look to see how many times the user has posted to the forums. The more posts, the less likely it is that this is a scam.

* Use common sense, if a deal seems far too good to be true, it probably is.

* When paying with Paypal, be sure to ensure that the info matches what you expect (If the names are different, it could be a red flag)

* You should request and verify address/telephone information so that if there are issues you know who you are dealing with.

General ettiquite
* As with all forums here, try and be nice about it. If the asking price of a particular item seems to be higher than average, posting links to less expensive items is not generally recommended.

* If you are interested in an item, but have additional questions that involve sending personal information to get an answer, please use the private messaging feature. You might consider posting a reply to the thread that says "PM Sent" or similar.

Tips for avoiding disappointment
* Ask for pictures, from multiple angles, particularly for higher ticket items. Ask about condition and functionality. Try and think of what accessories (if any) should be included, and if not noted in the items description, ask the seller before committing to buy.

* Hammer out details with the seller regarding terms, including shipping, before committing to buy.

* If you are going to pick up an item in person, decide upon a date/time for pickup, and then follow up at that time. Sellers will be justly upset if a buyer doesn't show up when expected.

After a successful transaction
* Post a reply to the thread indicating that you have had a successful transaction, and where indicated, thank the seller.

Conflict resolution
* In the rare instance where you have a conflict, please make every effort to resolve with the seller before contacting JeepKJCountry staff.
* If you truly feel you have been scammed, in the United States, you can open up a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center and they will file with the appropriate authorities. Note, you will need the sellers information to proceed.
