so, story is, my aunt had a liberty that she brought up from the south and drove it here a couple winters before spinning a bearing in the engine. end result, now mine. So to replace the engine, I already know since mine is a 2004, it will also need a 2004 V6 engine to bolt up directly. I already know it's got the 42RLE transmission, is there anything else to know/check for a direct swap?

Here is the most informative thread I know of for swapping a 3.7 into a Liberty. It's an '05 engine into an '03, but this thread will give you an idea of what to expect if attempting an engine swap yourself on a Liberty. Thanks to TwoBobsKJ for a fantastic write up!

Thank you so so much for that guide! It's nice to know it's possible to use those 2005+ engines in it, as my local junkyard sells engines for $100 each. The 2004's are unobtanium but the 2005+'s are quite common there!
