I was under my '09 KK looking for the source of an oil leak (rotted oil pan) and found a much more concerning rust issue, the front subframe has a large rust hole on the verticle section avove the left lower control arm! Hopefully we can find enough good metal to weld in a repair. Replacement is expensive and labor intensive! With an 09 KK only being worth about 5K now a major $$ investment doesn't make much sense.

Huge job, yes it is
BUT
it is the best way overall to get it done right and last for a lot longer
Start grinding on that area to get it ready to weld, I bet you find many more very thin places

Got the Jeep into the shop today, they found plenty good metal to do a repair. If you're in Eastern North Carolina check out Barden Metal Fabrication in New Bern, NC.
