I was searching the forum for instructions/'howtos' on modding/trimming the STOCK 02-04' KJ bumper, couldn't find any.
My main goals for the mod:

- No extra $$$ (or very little) - not interested in after-market steel bumpers etc
- Better off roading approach angle / prevent damage
- Looks - keep it good looking, don't make it ugly
- Prepare mounting points for off road LED lights (in time).. thinking of this product or alike. - preferably with no vibration.
- Possibly mount the front tow hooks in the process (couldn't do it with the bumper on no matter what because of the crazy angles accessing the nuts)

Any directions / pics / howtos / tips appreciated.
Thanks

To be different most cut the whole fog light area out which to me doesn't look right, so I started with this much
I have one side cut more, removing the stock fogs and installing some oval Hella fogs in their place .
Will be cut about 2-2.25 inches up more .
Still have half of the fog light area showing so it looks sort of stock .

Will be cut up a bit higher than the middle of the license plate

As far as those lights they scatter light everywhere , most of them make great rear lights but not as a fog or driving light

basically you just cut straight through the line which represents the middle of the fog light height?

how complicated is it to remove the front bumper?

Not sure about the older KJs but my 05 cut like butter with my utility knife
No need to remove the bumper just mark where you want to cut (I used a dry erase marker so I could easily wipe it off) and go to town
Sand the rough edges and you're done

Its not hard to remove the bumper but no real need to.
I use a drywall saw , goes slower so you can control the cut better.
Also need something to cut the plastic in behind the bumper cover
I use some battery powered, one of those little cut off tools , its hard plastic so takes some to cut it .
I use tape as a reference line to cut, did the same on all the fronts I've cut plus rear bumper as well
