    Hi all,

    I have an 04 KJ.

My fog lights won't turn off while headlights are on despite the switch being pushed in as "off."
I've removed the fuse for now as a quick fix but obviously I can't just leave it like that as much as I would like to.

I understand what the issue is and how to fix it, but my problem is that I can't seem to take the back of the multifunctional switch off. No screws, just clips.. Any tips/ideas?

I know I could easily just buy a new one, but I'd rather see if I can fix it first.

Sorry if this issue has already been discussed.

    Any helps is greatly appreciated!

    Welcome.
Can't remember hearing of a situation where fogs are always on. At first I thought it may be the fog relay!
Most would just simply replace the multifunction / turn signal stalk, but I give you credit for attempting to try to repair this on your own!

I've never looked at one in person, but from what I see it looks like it just snaps together with those plastic tabs. One can use a small tool to bend them back to release. Problem is, one will invariably break :) Try warming in the Sun or someway first. Then gently pry a clip back, maybe use a toothpick or something to keep it unsnapped while you do the next.

When it does come open you will probably have some contacts and springs fall out and never get it back together :)

This is a Wrangler, but gives an iea of what is inside.

Check under the dash in the driver side. Look for the cluster of relays. See if any relays are connected by wires rather than pushed into the block as normal.
Reason I say this is there is a way to “rewire” the relay so the fogs are on as long as the switch for them is on and at least the parking lights are on.

I know you said that they stay on with the headlights, so maybe they were rewired differently.

I guess before all this, I should ask how long have you had this Jeep? IF new to you, check the above, if not and issue just started...never mind, probably in the switch itself.

I've owned the jeep for only 6 months, but I'm 100% certain it's an issue with the multifunctional switch, I stole the one out of my Dad's jeep and that worked fine, so definitely the switch. Just need to work out how to get into the stupid thing.

Had a bad relay cause this on mine. But I have the relay wiring tweaked to keep the fogs on whenever like with high beams etc.
