Flat towing an 09 Liberty.

I'm trying to tow my 09 Liberty with my RV using a "Brake Buddy" plugged into the old cig. lighter socket. I've wired everything accordingly, and have the ignition switch to run, but I keep blowing the in-line fuse to the Liberty battery, resulting in a dead battery at the camp site. At first I though I'd pinched the wire, so I ran it differently, and it doesn't blow until on the road.
