Elastic strap by the driver leg?

I have a 2009 liberty limited and on the side of the panel next to the driver's leg there is a short elsatic strap, I can not find anything in the book and for the life of me I can not think of any use for this, any ideas what this is for (or if you have it what do you use it for?).

I guess you use your imagination.I heard people use it for a map holder to a place to stick their gun.I think its used to hold the Jeep together.

I think I read somewhere it's a map holder...I wouldn't think it would do much good, but it's a good thing to add cost to the Jeep right. My 08 kk has it and I don't think I will use it for anything.

Push the damn gum down a little.. It is driving me crazy, just push it in so it fits snugly without being wedged on that plastic edge.. Grrr.. My OCD just hit super high levels, I just want to reach in and push it down.... Arghh.
