    Hello my name is Fred
I have an 02 Jeep Liberty4 wherldrive I recently changed the rear drum brakes with all new hardware even changed the rear brake lines. I took it for a short test drive (7 tenths of a mile) to my father in laws place and the rear driver side drum was extremely hot. I have disconnected the e brake cable and it still gets hot. Any ideas

Thank you the for the info. My self- adjuster is all the way in. When I rotate the drum I can here the brake pad rubbing. The drum I noticed also seems to fit loose and has a lot of play.

I adjusted mine with axle on jack stands. Adjust it accordingly or by feel. When I feel some drag I know it’s good.

    Re check the hardware.
I really don’t like drum brakes...

I don't like them either but unfortunately that is what we got with the early 2002 KJs!

I also do not have ABS on my Export 2002 CRD...really miss that:(

Need to get my Jeeps' rear brakes checked out by the Experts...been holding it off due to packing up and moving etc. but I know the rear brakes are not happy!
