So I was in Walmart yesterday and over in the automotive dpt they had some Bosch oil filters on clearance for $3.00. I don't know what the regular price was. Anyway, I got a couple. If you are at your local store you could check.

They are "Bosch Distance Plus D3422" for the KJ.

I never used them before. I don't know who makes them or if they are any good but the pig is wearing one as I just changed the oil. When the Pig was new I used the MOPAR filters as I had a bunch of them from the dealer and then switched to Purolator Pure-One.

Anybody use Bosch oil filters or know if they are any good and who makes them? It just says "made in the USA" on the box?

I think it's Purolator (or recently, Tearolator, lots of people found tears in the media, may or not be fixed now), at least for that line. Bob is the Oil guy forum would know, I can ask if ya'll want.

Yeah, Last ones I was using were Purolator Pure-One in the gold package and I have one of those left. Can you find out if the "Bosch Distance Plus" are any good if you are a member there?

(tearolator.....LOL)

The Bosch used to be good filters... might still be, but used to be made by Purolator. It may use a different style media than the recent Purolators that were tearing (which was really unexpected and unfortunate).

I'd use them. I used to put one on my older Escort GT, had a Mazda 1.8 DOHC that I ran pretty hard.

Usually the Bosch oil filters run about $.599-$9.99 depending on model and application; so $3 is a fantastic deal.

Here it is, feel free to check in on it!

I don't think my local walmart has them, at least in the KJ size. I've thought about getting a pack oil filters on eBay or rockauto, as you can get a really good deal. But with rock auto you'll likely end up with old stock or something sort of obscure and different.

Thanks HJ for checking. It seems that they are ok so I am going back tomorrow to get a couple more if they still have them.

Yep, they're good! Just look down the center and make sure the louvers are all opened nicely.

New development........was at a different walmart and found the Bosch filters for get this......drum roll......ONE DOLLAR EACH........I bought all the KJ ones (they had 8 left) They were in the clearance section and not the auto section.

I figured out that they had a crap load of new mobil 1 filters with a big sign saying "New Item" in the automotive section......so I think they moved all their Bosch to clearance in every store maybe???? It would be worth checking out in your local store.......just a heads up.

Dave.

the guys on bobs all like the Bosch filters, said the premium one ie the model below are similar to a Pure one.

Biggest complaint was price. The D+ model was more than some full synthetic media filters, specifically the RP and wix XP/Napa Plat, Fram Ultra XG series.

If you must have a synthetic media, these are mixed but likely better than paper. I'd run it 12 months without issues. At a buck I'd run their cheap Workshop filter and change every 6 months and top off. Since you got the premium ones for that i'd run it till your unhappy with your oil.

edit: apparently i should have followed the bobs link posted earlier, its all in there.

Says 5 dollars at the store by my work...doesn't even show the store closer to home.

For $5... I'd pick up one or two (I bought the Purolator Pure One's at Meijer when they were clearanced down to $3 or less, have 4 or 5 of them left).

Yeah, even $5 is less than 1/2 price. Seems like they are all different clearance prices at different stores.
