Thanks for reminding me. I need to get one of these to install when I change coolant in mine this spring/summer.

Correct Specs on Jeep OEM Block Heater:
I just found the tag that came off my OEM block heater cord..
10 AMP
1250 Watts (125 Volts)
The draw measured by my APC-UPS meter was 430 watts per hour initially.

Keep in mind that the stock cord is kinda thin and you dont want to rip it apart when u drive off, forgetting to unplug it.
I put a reminder card on the shifter plate. "Block heater Plugged In" so I don't drive off while it is still powered. (me often forgetful)
To Protect The Stock OEM Cord, I Used a Strong Husky Tool Replacement Cord to make an under hood extension to the front. (avail home depot)

The husky cord has only the male end making it easy to feed/cut up to where the OEM block heater cord was.
I then wired in the female end and now it is strong outside and the OEM cord is now protected.

Edit- also using a more accurate Kill-A-Watt meter the consumption of the block heater is:

Nice mod, Tim. Thanks for the pics!

Question: Where does the wire get routed from the freeze plug over to the side of the engine bay - under the exhaust manifold? Going from memory I can only picture one of the freeze plugs and it was pretty close to the exhaust manifold and it would seem there's the possibility of the wire melting. Obviously that doesn't happen or all of you with the block heater would be frustrated with burned wires.

Inquiring minds want to know! :hmm:

No its too cold to remove the airbox to get a clean "shot"..without whiskey...
The last portion of the wire closest to the element, hides under the airbox ~!
But Hey I moved it out for the photo!
It was like a hidden treasure !! LOL..

Thanks for the pictures! They will be very helpful upon me receiving the heater! Dang usps sucking at their jobs once again. Order delivery estimate was Friday(1/10)the original was Saturday(1/11) and I still have no heater. Damn you usps. Do you happen to have a way to describe where the freeze plug I have to remove is? Or how I can access it? That's my only concern...
