A local dealership has a Jeep Compass in its front lot. Parkway Chrysler and Jeep (16mile and Gratiot) for those of you interested. I decided to greet our new family member.

I know it's a jeep and don't want to sound snobish, but yuck. If it was the only jeep I could afford, then I guess I'd be all over it.

Welcome to the new compass. It looks nice, I mean really, I don't care what others said about jeep softening up, but instead of letting Japanese made crossovers capture the market share, Jeep is just trying something new to see what will happen. 20k, 4x4 (AWD) not sure of which ****** but still, and cool sound system, this is just what a rainy new england college kids need..

As for the rims, etc.. I hope Jeep eventually comes up with this:

I am sure variations will come up.
I cannot wait to take it out for a spin if it arrives at my dealership..

Southeast of disorder...
My main problem with the Compass is when I think of Jeep I think 'Off Road'. While this will have AWD and a decent suspension, I just can't see it crawling over rocks. Not bashing it, I actually like the look, I just wish it were more off-road capable. But then, thats why manufacturers make different models to fit different needs...

Now if someone throws a Frankenlift and some 31's on it then maybe I'll reconsider :-s

I like the black one parked next to the Compass in the pictures better.

I read a review somewhere of the Dodge version, and they gave it good marks, even on dirt roads. For the price... what do you do?

But, I'll take that black KJ in the photos. (biggrin)

I'll take the black one too...oh wait (whistle)

As I walked around the car (hybrid car/suv, suv, wagon...crap I don't know) I felt that I was looking at some type of Ford Focus or something of that nature. I understand its the same platform as the Dodge Caliber, which means Chrysler is really ramping up on the flex line production between Jeep and Dodge...blah.

Oh well, hopefully it gives some nice sales numbers for Jeep and they can then pump that extra money into making us a Truck, or a new off-road concept.

Ill take it in a second! That thing is sexy. (The green one)

I wouldnt give up my liberty for it but I would gladly drive it to work and back and on non-jeep vacations.

Boy howdy that black jeep would look way better with a set of BFGs and an ARB. (whistle) (whistle) lol3.gif

Well it certainly is a different type of Jeep....For their intended market I think it'll be a big hit....however i'll still take my gas guzzling mall crawling KJ any day.

The vehicle is definitley something new. I wouldn't mind test driving it to maybe sway my opinion on it. Oh yea, thanks for the poll.

I can picture 8 years down the road and tons of Aftermarket mods for it. ]

You can now modify one on jeep website, and also check if any dealers nearby has it in stock.. Not in this area, so I will be waiting to vote on that poll until I take a seat in it. It looks spaceous and wide. Anyone has dimentions on it yet? Not published, probably..
