So I want to set up a dual battery set-up for the KJ.

No room in the engine bay, so, I bought a ArkPak battery box to put in the back & a Projecta 150A Isolator. The box has a 120AH AGM Battery in it and has a recommended charge of 33Amps.

Now, I believe the KJ has a 160Amp alternator, The Isolator charges at 125Amp. What I want to know is, Will I kill the battery?

If the Alternator puts out 160Amps, How can a Dual battery system possibly work without killing the Aux battery? Or for that matter the starting battery?

I don't want my KJ to catch fire. Is this OK?

Hi,

The isolator doesn't charge at 125A as such. It just means that is a safe constant charging rate for the isolator to handle. The battery will basically take whatever charge it needs and not the maximum that the alternator can output.

Basically your set up sounds fine! :)
