Judging by the recent spate of posts on this, it seems like problems start cropping up at around 12 years. I am starting to get the light come on intermittently after starting up and it stays on until the next cycle of engine off then on. Since mine is a 2002 without the passenger seat sensor, I suspect, other than a bad connection somewhere, that it will either be the clockspring or one of the 2 sensors by the radiator. My Auterra scan tool doesn't read SRS or ABS codes.
Reading the FSM, it says some tests are constantly running whilst others are run once at startup. Does anyone know which tests are run when? I could imagine that the sensors might be tested at startup and continuity to the airbags might be constantly checked so that the light could come on at any time in this case. I would like to know if this really is the case as if my light only come on at startup and stays on, then I could eliminate the clockspring.
I know you will all say "take it to the the dealers", but from my experience with them, I wouldn't let them blow up my tires.

No I'm sure they know how to BLOW UP tires I've seen it and on a hoist scary. For those who don't know over inflating a tire with a slow leak will not make it last longer before you need to put air in it again. DA
