2007 jeep liberty briefly lost reverse

Good morning.

After pulling her 2007 jeep liberty into the driveway, she put the car in reverse and at first had power but then the car started to roll forward with the gear not grabbing. When this occurred, the traction control light and oil light illuminated. She put the car in park and then restarted it and was able to successfully reverse.



Does this sound like an electrical issue or is it likely that this is mechanical? any info would be greatly appreciated. I'll pull the codes with my obd2 later today.

Hi, I presume since she had to restart it that the Jeep stalled attempting to reverse? My guess would be that a tune up is in order. New plugs, filters, and clean the TB and MAF sensor. That's the best case. Mechanical issues would be last since it did reverse once restarted. Once you post codes, I'm sure others may chime in.
