hello from ohio and i just purchased a 2003 liberty sport from a friend and it needs some work and seeing as how i was a master auto tech for 35+ yrs this doesn't bother me. I have found alot of useful information and tips on here but 1 thing that has always puzzled me is the designation of the KJ,YJ,KK and so on codes that people use. Can someone explain what spot(s) in the vin that these refer too so i know more about what i have when looking at parts/mods/tips and those that pertain to my particular vehicle.
I have always wanted a jeep to "play with" and have thought about building up my liberty but wondered how it stacks up vs the "wrangler" or "cherokee" bodystyles and if it may be easier or cheaper to"build on a buck" and just go purchase one of them instead. Thanks and keep up the great work
