03 Jeep lib. Engine knock

The engine ran warm shut off I let it cool down completely added water. Think it’s a freeze plug not sure yet. I cranked it and then a constant knock. Sounds like a rocker arm but pulled the valve covers and there intack. Any ideas? Thanks in advanced..

How hot did it get and for how long?

What do you mean about the drain plug? Is it leaking from there?

If it’s constantly knocking, maybe look into “piston slap”, but you would have had to straight cook the engine or run out of oil, I believe.
