Driving with Front sway bar removed-diagnostic only

Can I safely drive around town (say 40mph tops) with the front sway bar removed. I'm trying to chase down a clunking noise in the front suspension. I've replaced the steering rack bushings, outer tie rod ends, springs, shocks, sway bar links & cushions. I just want to drive with the sway bar...

%&*$#$ What part did I break?

Changing spark plugs and was working in the passenger side rear when I heard a slight pop. I managed to break the plastic T fitting where the two plastic lines from the back of the engine connect and go into the air filter box. I assume I will have to order new plastic tubes as they appear to...

    Engine oil analysis results

At 120k miles, I was curious about the engine condition. The first 14k miles, my Jeep was an Enterprise rental. From 14k to 53k, it was my wifes daily driver and was serviced at Chevron Oil Changers. From 53k to present, the Jeep has been my daily driver. I used the cheap Fram oil & air filters...

    Reprimanded!

I was changing a tire on the Jeep Saturday and since I was just doing a quick tire change and not going under the Jeep, I just had it on the jack, no jack stands. My 2 year old daughter kept wanting to stand really close or crawl under the Jeep and I had to keep telling her to stand away. Like...

Hit a deer, looking for auxillary light options

Deer ran in front of me, hit the brakes as hard as I could, but still hit her. Broke off my right axillary light. What is a good inexpensive replacement that would work with the small gauge wire all ready there? I don't want to re-wire and I'm not looking for KC Day Lighter performance, just...

Not happy with OME 948's & Bilsteins

Installed OME 948/927's with new Bilsteins all the way around at 103 k miles replacing all stock equipment. Have not been happy with ride quality since, especially the rear. It's more bouncy and rocks side to side than the sagging worn out old stuff. At 110k now, pulled the rear shocks and...

    Rear coil spring installation

Is it possible to install the rear coil springs the wrong way? If so, what is the correct orientation? I think I put one in upside down if that is possible.

Will rear axle from 02 fit 05?

I need to have my rear axle rebuilt, but like so many of us, money is tight. I found a 2002 KJ being parted out and I can get the rear axle for a decent price, but will it fit an 05? Can I easily swap the drum brakes for my disks? By easily, I mean no welding or fabricating. It needs to be bolt...

    Upgrading coil springs

Howdy All, 2005 Renegade, 101,000 miles still running original coil springs and shocks. Yes, the ride and handling is pretty bad now. Going to order OME springs from Jeepin By Al, but don't know if I should go medium or heavy. Right now, the KJ is mainly a commute vehicle, 96 miles a day over...

    Noisy rear end

2005 Renegade 92k miles never used off road. 3.7, auto. Completely OEM right down the the original shocks & springs. (yes, the ride sucks) Around 42k miles I starting hearing a faint howling noise from the rear end @ 60 MPH while under load. The noise goes away when coasting. Changed the diff...

    Spark plugs @ 90k miles

I'm concerned about the build up on the base of the threads. one plug had wet oil on it, but the coil and o-ring were dry so it's not leaking from above the plug and dripping down.
