    strange Idle behavior

That may not be unusual. I think my 2011 Avenger did the same thing with no load. Could be a computer setting since those are drive by wire. Maybe TPS is acting up. Only other thing would be to check to see if the throttle body is clean. I'd be concerned if it went WAY high after but a 100 or so...

The 2022 Great Desert Road Trip

Awesome read and I think you should publish this! I think your nickname should be Mayhem...

What did you do to your jeep today?

You get what you pay for. Installed a Denso on the wife's 08 Sienna last year and no problems. It was the OE brand for that vehicle. Cost about 100 bucks more than the next in line but didn't want to take a chance and this van lasted over 320k on the original.

strange- when traveling at high speed there is sort of a wobble (like going over road studs) when slightly cornering

Very strange. So only feel it in the seat/floorboards and no sensation in the steering wheel? If nothing in the steering then seems like it isn't the front end.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I've used Mahle gaskets quite a bit on my Jeeps and another Dodge. Always worked fine and quality was very good. I'm always biased towards Fel-Pro too but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Unleaded 88 safe?

Yeah this price thing is definitely true! Where I work we can only use 200 proof anhydrous (guess that's redundant) and it cost twice as much per volume as the other forms. In PA it would have an actual Liquor Control Board label/seal on it. In MD we get local stuff so it may not have to go...

    Unleaded 88 safe?

Another interesting read. https://extension.psu.edu/fuel-ethanol-hero-or-villain BTW Ethanol actually increases octane. It's a tricky issue as indicated in the above article. I have a 4.0 L Ford OHV engine in an old Ranger and it'll hate me for using premium (higher octane) gasoline since it...

    Unleaded 88 safe?

I run the usual "up to 10%" stuff in all my vehicles. I did run E85 which is mostly EtOH in one Flex fuel Dodge I had. Ran okay but the MPG was low. I have no idea if this link is reputable or not but it is a different perspective from what I had heard...

Hi I’m Ken and live in Md. suburbs. I tried to do the introduction but some tire sales Baja stuff kept me from intro.

Welcome from the Fredrick area. Although I'm usually stuck in traffic somewhere on 270. I guess your wife likes red? What do you need a larger cooler for? I'm assuming you have the 45rfe trans?

    Front Timing Cover Leak

Same here on both of mine. Never really affected oil volume between changes. Just some free rustproofing for me ;)...

    Help please Re: Misfires

^^^^THIS Both of mine did weird things (like you're seeing) when battery was getting flaky. Sometime just cleaning the terminal connectors helped. One time with my 02 I couldn't even tell by looking. Cleaned them anyway and slapped a little dielectric grease on and all better.

    Help please Re: Misfires

Arc color is a questionable test. Not sure color really tells you much since other factors can affect color other than pulse strength. As long as they are arcing (#3 and #6 as well as the others) I'd be happy since the PCM is triggering them and it's not a major PCM/electrical issue. You can...

    Help please Re: Misfires

Might be tough to tell from the arc if things are good enough. What brand plugs and coil packs did you use? Did you check the gaps on the plugs? Pre-gapped isn't always correct. Have you swapped the #3 and #6 cylinder coil packs to a different location or put an old working one back in those...

Transmission cooler line replacement. How to line routing?

Probably installed from the factory before other things were in the way. I've had this in several vehicles with transmission hardline and brake lines. I had to section a transmission cooler line for my Ranger and splice it back together with the appropriate hose and clamps. Would have had to...

    Airbag Light After Car Wash

There were multiple air bag recalls on the early KJs. I remember going in for two. One was a module swap and the other required some type of jumper harness installed. Sounds like the module swap was supposed to fix it all. The link below doesn't say anything about the jumper which I think I had...

Lost in an endless loop trying to find part

I'm actually just outside of Mt Airy (15 minutes) and I've never been to that one or the others. Never heard much about it but do know where it is. I know the one's over toward BMore have lots of stuff based on word of mouth. Sounds like I need a day trip too. There doesn't seem to be much of...

    A/C condenser recommendation

I put a Denso condenser in when I replaced the compressor on a 2008 Toyota Sienna late last summer. Less than 100$ and perfect fit. Drier was preinstalled. Not sure they sell a Denso for your vehicle but those "made in China" parts are probably packaged under all sorts of brands like Spectra and...

    Disabling bad front diff

the bearing should not come apart without the axle spindle present. they're independent of each other. JRB is proof of concept.

    Disabling bad front diff

This^^^ You just need to remove the two axle shafts, no need to disassemble the shaft itself. One issue, even after removing the spindle nut and freeing it from the hub, may be trying to get the spindle end CV section out. Clevis clearance may be an issue and you may need to remove/partially...
