    wrong rad cap

Several years ago I had to replace my radiator cap because it would make a PFFFFFTT noise when I would take a right turn. I went to the part store and picked up a new one. The box says ST16 on it. It's a safety release 16 psi. Today I wanted to test my anti-freeze and I was looking at the...

    need new front ds cv

The time has finally come for a needing a new rear cv joint on the front drive shaft. The boot has been gone for numerous years now and it's just starting to make a clicking sound. I'm seeing 2 options for the joint; driveshaftparts.com and a dorman one from rockauto. The driveshaftparts...

    Have to fill gas slowly

I haven't driven my 2005 Liberty 3.7l auto much lately. Last time I filled it up at a station was spring of 2015 and everything was fine then. My radiator broke and it sat for a while. Once and a while I would start it up and even had to put some gas in from a jerry can a couple of times...

    Thermostat housing leak

In September I changed out the radiator on my 2005 Liberty w/ 3.7. When I did the radiator, I removed the thermostat to help in draining the block. I changed out the rad and put on the old thermostat with the old o-ring. No leaks at all. I haven't driven my jeep much since then. 3 days...

    Water pump gasket

Is the water pump gasket a one time use thing? I made a stupid move and removed my water pump because I thought the water inlet where the thermostat goes was part of the water pump. I put the water pump back on with the original gasket and torqued the bolts. At first it was OK but now the...

Rubber feet on bottom of radiator

I'm in the process of swapping out my broken radiator. I got the rad put in with no problems. Once I finished snapping in the grill I noticed the bottom feet things that go on the bottom of the radiator fell off. How important are these? Also, why do some of the how to posts on here say...

    Trac-lok with no offroad package?

2005 Jeep Liberty 3.7L 4x4 part-time Yesterday I got the build-sheet for my Jeep from the jeep site and it says I should have the trac-lok. I'm sure I do not have the offroad package (no skids, rock rails, etc). Is it possible to have trac-lok without the offroad package? I'm fairly...

    P0116 Code

This morning was an extremely cold day (-37'C without wind) and my MIL came on after driving for 10 minutes. Code is P0116. I also noticed the cooling fan was stuck on. I did have the jeep plugged in for a few hours before starting it. It's not like it was plugged in for 12 hours. I did...

    Front axle nut socket size

Today I just discovered that my front driver's side axle seal is leaking. I saw a drop of oil on the driveway and upon further inspection it appears to be the axle seal. What size is the axle nut? I am finding 2 different sizes on the internet; 35mm and 36mm. I hope it is 36 because I...

    Chaning rear shocks

Looks like I will be changing out my rear shocks in the very near future. On a cool day it sounds like my back tires are flat. The shocks bang that much. Before I only had that issue when it was really cold (like -30'C). So I guess that means they need to be changed. From what I have saw...

    May need new rad cap

For the past severals months my 2005 Liberty has been making a random farting noise that is coming from the front right area. It seems to happen the most when turning left. Once the noise is made it usually won't happen again for a while. The noise has happened when the jeep was sitting...

    Parking brake sticking

I have a 2005 Liberty. 4 wheel disc with abs. Yesterday I was entering on to the freeway. As I was about to merge in to traffic at 55 mph I heard a loud thumping noise coming from the back. At first I thought a semi truck came out of nowhere and turned on it's engine brakes. That wasn't...

    e rated tires - pressure

I got some decent goodyear a/t tires a couple of years ago. Apparently they are an e rating (10 ply I think). I had nitrogen put in them and they filled the tires to what the door sticker says (32??). From what I understand the door sticker is for the stock P tires, right? These new ones are...

    Northstar battery

Yesterday I was in this tractor supply store and saw they have these batteries called northstar battery. It looks like they are distributed by exide. I saw they have one that'll fit my 2005 Liberty (group 34/78). Price is $275. 99.9% pure lead. 880 CCA, 1015 CA. Has anybody heard of...

    Weird electrical issue

I was removing my head unit from my jeep. The yellow wire (12 v constant) came undone and ground out for a split second. There was a click sound and since then things aren't working right. When I turn the jeep off the fuel gauge doesn't fall to empty. The locks don't work unless I turn the...

    Seat removal - torx bit

I need to remove my front seats so I can clean the carpet under the seats. There is a bolt with a torx head that attaches the seatbelt. I think this is either a T54 or else a T55. Does anybody know for sure what size it is? Thanks.

    OME in Canada

I live in Canada. Where is the best place to get OME springs and some good shocks for my 2005 Jeep Liberty 3.7l? My current OEM suspension is almost in need of replacement and in the near future I would like to replace it with something decent. Thanks.

    Rough Country lifts

Does anybody have any opinions on this? http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_liberty_3.html A guy I know has a rough country lift on his cheroke and he says they are a great kit. Just looking at the picture for the liberty kit makes me think "e-bay special" crap.

    Serpentine belt cracking

I just replaced my serpentine belt because it was severely cracked. There were vertical cracks 1/8" apart all around the ribbed side of the belt. I thought the OE belt was not supposed to crack? It only had 91,000km on it.

    High output alternator

Does anybody have any experience with one of these? https://www.dcpowerinc.com/alternators/jeep/1999-2006-jeep-grand-cherokee-4-7v8-260-amp-high-output-alternator-29.html They claim it's a direct bolt-on and compatible with the PCM controlling the alternator.
