    Wtf???

Did I miss something? That's a Patriot, right? Don't they come stock with tires like that? I had a rental Pat once. P.O.S. Sorry to any Patriot owners out there, maybe there are better examples, but it was gutless, got bad mileage, and was zero fun to drive. Not one bit like my old Liberty.

What did you do to your jeep today?

A 2005 XTerra. A friend was selling it for a steal, and I've always liked the truck. It's got half the miles of the Liberty, more cargo space for the dogs, and the engine is bulletproof. I just can't justify the expense of keeping the Liberty too, as much as I like it. I'd rather have just...

    What's, uh....the deal?

Wow, that's the first I'd heard about the dipstick going away. So you can't service the trans. yourself any more? I think that's enough to keep me from buying any vehicle, especially an off road vehicle.

    FS: 2003 KJ 4x4 5-speed, Only $5000!!!

Thanks, dude! This forum has been great for the past few years and I've learned a ton about vehicle maintenance from you guys. I admit I will miss the Jeep and this forum, but it's time to move on. I'll maintain my membership here and check in from time to time though.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I put my Jeep up for sale on THIS THREAD. (Click link) Selling the venerable Liberty makes me a little sad, but I've got a new project vehicle and can't afford to keep both.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Climbed a mountain with it! I have to say I am continually impressed by the Liberty. I got through rock climbing/mud/snow situations I never would have thought it could do. I'm DEFINITELY glad I bought those recovery points though- I had to get winched back onto the trail when I fell off once...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Installing a hitch in a pain in the :censored:. I had the same problem with my threads. For my KJ, I changed the manual transmission and transfer case fluids.

    Thrust recovery kit

I'd buy the stuff individually as your needs will vary. Depending on your location, some things may make more sense than others (i.e. tree savers and pulleys don't do much good in the desert- no trees! But extra water and a CB radio can literally save your life.) Make sure you have recovery...

    Squeek every so often...

x2. When I start below 30F, my steering pump sounds like it's about to explode for about 15 seconds, and then it's fine. No power steering issues, either.

    Transfer Case Noise??

That's got to be your problem if the bearings are exposed. Seems like all the front driveshaft CVs have decided to fail this year- I've seen a huge rash of threads like this, and I just changed mine 2 months ago.

Can't decide if efficient or stupid...

Fixed the glitch for you. K&N intakes on a KJ are stupid. Save your money and spend a fraction of it to keep your engine well maintained for the long haul. You won't regret it.

    Best KK for offroad

One heck of a lift and tires, and probably regearing and lockers if you're going to even attempt the Rubicon trail. Camp Jeep and MOAB should be fun though, even stock or with minor mods.
