    shift knob

Holy crap, great idea! Do you have any finished-product photos? your cardomain site says you didn't get time to post a photo with the boot back on.

    NH Trail Ride, August 27th

This was being planned on the LOST NorthEast forum, but just in case LOST doesn't come back up before the trail run (only a little over a week away), here's the details: Date: Sunday, August 27th Time: 9am Meeting Location: First rest stop across the NH border on I-95 Wheeling Location...

    Manual Owners

You're right, going downhill engine braking, in either case putting the clutch in will make you go faster, since the engine was holding you back. But try it out on flat ground at various speeds, you'll be surprised. When you expect putting the clutch in will slow you down, it actually ends up...

    Manual Owners

It's not a bad idea at all, and in fact, it's a great way to wheel offroad. When you're in 1st gear of 4-lo, the engine is actually causing you to go slower than a natural rolling speed. So when you put the clutch in, the jeep SPEEDS UP. It's backwards from what a clutch normally does in 2wd. So...

    I got rear-ended yesterday...

Since I was on my way to the insurance company at the time, I asked them about it when I got there. They said I was definitely not "at fault" so as a result, it's not going to make my insurance go up. I have the information from the other guy, but I'd prefer to let the insurance company chase...

    KJ SNORKEL

booo!! they made a nice little cutout for your side indicator.... but here in the US, that spot is occupied by a radio antenna. I guess losing the antenna was inevitable...

    I got rear-ended yesterday...

By a BICYCLE!! I was stopped at a red light and this guy must have really been cruising. He was coming down between the lanes of traffic and ran right smack into my swing gate hard enough for me to hear + feel it from the drivers seat. Dented the gate and broke the taillight. He was ok...

HOW TO: Build Sturdy Roof Rails For Under $40

I like it! Especially the rubber pipe coupling and U-bolt making the snug fit. Not sure how I feel about a wooden rack, but it works. One thing I would change is to counter-sink the u-bolts somehow. Having bolt-ends sticking up like that is going to scratch something you put on the roof.

Cargo area shelf (Now with Pics!!!)

That looks AWESOME! I was thinking of doing something very similar since I didn't want to spend $300 on a metal shelf, but I like having the storage space for things without having to stack them. I don't put much weight in there, usually just something light like a gym bag or something, so it's...

    HOW TO: Improve your MPG

I don't know if it's the same with the automatic transmission, but I would change line #1 to specifically state that the reason not to go fast is because the engine will rev higher. I'm not sure the exact level, but I heard that the 3.7L engine was most fuel-efficient at around 2200RPM, which...

Towing capacity with a MANUAL transmission

Basically, sad but true. There are very few manual transmission vehicles that are intended for towing, just about everything is automatic these days.

    Is this a trick question?

    Conveinence factors

They do have that feature in some cars - especially for the sunroof. I believe what they do is have some kind of sensor to know if it is closing on something (arm, finger, neck, dog, child, etc) and stops it (like how a garage door does). If you don't include the auto-close feature, you can...

overheating, voltage, wiring, amp (Renamed for usage)

But why have that limited connectivity? That's like when somebody spends $2000 on a car stereo and then pumps their iPod in through a staticy FM transmitter. Just because it works doesn't mean it's ideal. Why would anybody intentionally use a less capable cable when decent audio cables are cheap...

overheating, voltage, wiring, amp (Renamed for usage)

Well, the amp doesn't care, it just amplifies what it gets - but the cable itself will have some losses and noise, so the signal that the amp gets will be already noisy, and thus noisier once it is amplified. To put it another way, why would anybody pay for expensive gold-plated RCA cables to...

    The Best lift kit ? ? ?

A lot of people install the lift right in their driveway, but you can also try a local offroad shop if you have one handy. I imagine they will ship to canada, but you should call and ask them.

overheating, voltage, wiring, amp (Renamed for usage)

I dunno about using phone cord for audio applications.... While I'm sure it will technically work, I don't know that it was really designed with that purpose in mind. Phone lines are designed with a particular range of frequencies in mind (human speech, around 200Hz to 4000Hz). The phone company...

Spare Tire Cover (now with a pic)

I got mine from an eBay store, Apache Tire Covers (which I can't seem to find anymore). They custom made sewn vinyl tire covers on the cheap. They also had some nice pre-made designs for cheaper ($40 to $50) Things like silver flames and other simple designes, nothing too gaudy.
