    Old noobie buys a KJ

Final update on the lil ol' KJ - she's dead, Jim. Frame rails were extremely soft and rotten. It left on a flatbed this morning for the crusher. RIP, little one. 190k miles in the north will kill 'em over time.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Or a can of freon with the UV dye in it.

    How much lift

Totally unrelated, but I’d love the entire solid body on that.

    TCM replacement

Went out and looked at my ‘02. It appears the TCM stays on the black panel it’s mounted on until the whole assembly is removed by taking two nuts off in the front of the black panel. You’ll see two studs at the front where the nuts are. There are four clips on the large plug that will be...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Put the GMRS system in for group rides. Hated the handi-talkie, so it’s relegated to backup and loaner.

    Help with mystery front driveshaft

Either change the u-joints or find a shop to do it. Make sure the new ones have zerk fittings to be greased. Probably why the current ones are screaming - no lube.

What did you do to your jeep today?

^ Make sure it gets taken off in the winter. Got one of those in the garage with several split tubes from freezing water expansion. It’s going out with the scrap iron soon.

    Need help on tire sizes

Measure your fender height from center of axle to bottom of fender lip and post that. Recommendations to follow when that info provided.

    Valve job 2002 Liberty Renegade

I very carefully use a razor blade at an extremely shallow angle to clean any stuff off and wash with brakekleen. Use lint free rags.

    Valve job 2002 Liberty Renegade

Got a heat gun? It’ll soften the gaskets. Re: your cylinder conditions - I’d be a while lot more worried about #6! That’s a lot of gunk buildup. Like maybe a water leak from the head gasket into it.

Actual Lift Amount - Lets Compare Fender Heights

Yup, I expect those non-reinforced welds to fold like white bread under flex stress.

    First ORV trail outing

@Will_K If you’re interested in joining up with some great local Jeepers - Michigan Jeeps on FB hosts a monthly weekend camp and ride and are very newbie friendly. Did my first trip with them last month and had a great time up near Buckley. This month is Dads and Dirt near Glennie. On my...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I *may* have saved the Liberty battery! Stuck it on the Optimate charger before the long weekend and walked away. Went and checked it today and 12.6v! Hmm…. Load tested it by putting it back in and it’s started the Jeep three times today. /fingers crossed

Low whistle and 'washing machine' sound while driving?

Brakes worn? Could be the *swish* as the worn pads scrape the rotor.

Anyone have their AC switch go bad

What does is cost to ask Autozone about replacing it? That would be my first option. Personally not a fan of either Autozone or O’Reilly as to quality. Put an “O” battery in the Liberty two years ago. It has failed every winter since. They replaced it no charge last spring. Headed there...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Started the prep for the first three day weekend of Jeep'n trail fun. Tent/sleeping bag/air mattress rough country type lodging. Got the rv stuff from the old van set up inside to run the fridge and a power converter. Solar battery is good for three days easy. Mini-mutt Rocky is going along...
