04 kj Renegade Parting It Out

I have a black 04 jeep liberty renegade edition that was Totalled last November due to hitting a deer. Jasper Engines crate motor swap with only 83k on it that still runs strong. Oil changed religiously. Drove it on and off the tow truck lol. Tires are Cooper Discoverer at3s that have less than...

The good news is that both headlights still work! (Thank you forum!)

As for fixing this one, sadly I think it's time to walk away. Sent from my SM-S906L using Tapatalk

    Tires

One option you might want to consider is the Cooper Discoverer at3. That was my most recent tire purchase and I love them. I ran the grabber at2 for a long long time as well. When I went to buy a new set of at2s I was told by the tire shop that they have been discontinued in our size so be...

The good news is that both headlights still work! (Thank you forum!)

The dash is now lit up like a Christmas tree, airbag light is on though it did not deploy, power steering system is leaking, check engine light, ect. Plus there were some underlying issues that would make fixing it not very budget friendly for me. I'd rather part it out and make a few bucks...

I'm waiting to see how much it's going to cost to buy back, if it's reasonable I plan to buy back and part it out. Sent from my SM-S906L using Tapatalk

So here we go... last night marked the end of an era for me. Sadly my 04 kj got totalled. On my commute home from work I was given a rough decision that was lose-lose. I had a big ol' deer run out from behind a pitch black tree line. Slammed the brakes, swerved to avoid it, and locked up the...

    The well known speedometer issues.

Well unfortunately I will no longer have to continue to chase this issue. Last night my kj got totalled. Will make a separate post about that right now. But the funny thing is, 3 miles before it happened the speedo started working, and read accurate and was counting miles. Then bang, the kj was...

I have no idea what an odb2 reader is, or how to use it.

Starting to think I might need to bite the bullet and put ithem in the shop. I'm really stumped on this one

    The well known speedometer issues.

I checked wiring in the engine bay but did not meter test it. Could not find any breakage or worn insulation. As for where it going in from the underside I don't know how to access it and haven't had enough free time to tear it apart.

I haven't gone to get a pump reset done yet but something interesting has started to happen. More and more frequently now the speedo will kick one for a few seconds at a time, not reading accurately and when it does its feelstill like the jeep is stuttering like it's being starved for fuel. I...

So I had it at a mechanic and he's telling me that even though I replaced the sensors in the wires and everything the computer is stuck and I need to have a computer flashed at a dealership. Does this make sense to anyone?

After changing the pigtail still no luck. Might have to bite the bullet and take it to a shop, still throwing a code for vehicle speed sensor a as well.

I checked all the wiring from the sensor to where it goes up into the cabin in haven't checked anything else that's in the looming on the underside of the jeep

Well I was back under the Jeep today, replaced the pigtail plug to the rear diff sensor, no luck :( before replacing the plug today yesterday on my drive to work the speedometer turned on for about 2 seconds and then shuts back off again. Any ideas? I'm getting a vehicle speed sensor a code as well

I exercise the cluster and made sure the gauge actually works and it is moving. For the wires coming from the sensor that were rubbing on the parking brake I have rerouted them so it hasn't been rubbing now and Trace the wire from the sensor to where it goes into the body of the Jeep with no...

It's fully inoperative, abs and parking lights on. And since no speed reading the odor isn't ticking either, which happened last time.
