I would order the plates for the 2005 if there was enough left, to see what it would take to make them work. I have about nothing left. I believe the older vehicles use the same brake parts. So I would imagine the 2005 shields could be made to work. But you have to have something to start with.

They say it is not so bad. I can guarantee you, I will not be wasting my time putting yet another rear joint on my front drive shaft.

Next time - which could be anytime now - I am going with the complete aftermarket driveshaft. I believe you have to change the part on the transfercase to make installation easier. There are links on the Jeep CRD facebook page. I think it's about the same price as replacing with OEM parts.

How long ago was it that you had an issue with rockauto part? How did you ever get a hold of anybody to get your issue resolved? The last time I had an issue with a rockauto part, they contacted me a month or so later to ask how they could help.

There should not be oil. It should be grease. Is there a possibility it separated?

I'm guessing you had nice clean grease in your joint. I don't see how gear oil from your front differential could get in there
