Next I installed my rear differentiated cover.
A 8.25 Chrysler Solid axle cover.
Turned out perfect, and put just under 3L of 75w140 with lim slip pre mixed.
Mounting plates were quite rusty. So I handed them down, primer, bed lined them. Also used toothpaste and water to clean some rust streaks that had formed.
Might roll around without the rear tire for a change.
Solid rear diff cover installed!
With the filler cap sitting up higher, this thing just wants more and more gear oil. Im going to have to go pick up another bottle(already has 3L).
Also sprayed undercoating :-)
I was thinking about getting them on my old Caliber. But a friend said it wears out your wheel bearings 50% faster due to some kind of added flex and stress. Then he recommended rims that would adjust for wider tires without the side effect.
A few days ago I got around to cutting the lower portion of my front fascia off. Like all the cool kids seem to be doing. But I was wondering if anyone had made a radiator/front suspension skid plate?
Kind of like this:
(sorry for posting a ford pic)
If you could post pics or a link...
2) Rear cargo shelf with fire extinguisher.
3/4" or 1" ply wood, 7/8" dowel, 1/2" rigid conduit straps(hooks), Screws, rustoleum spray on bed liner, ABC 2.75 lb fire extinguisher with bracket. http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f293/rear-cargo-shelf-46552/
Ok! Welcome to my thread. I have a long list of mods and upgrades I'll be doing over the course of the life of my Jeep. But I mind as well get started on a thread now to avoid loading mass amounts at the end(whenever that may be). Ill post details and installation tips with pics as much as I...
Many many things to chose from. There are 3 essentials not mentioned so far. And im taking this from the Top Gear UK boys in the Bolivian special.
Condoms
Tampon
Petroleum Jelly
Not including that, I always roll around with:
Gerber Multi-tool
Tire puncture repair kit.
Air compressor

Did my first real off roading in the KJ! And pondering whether skids or 2.5" lift should come first(maybe some input from experts). I cut some plywood for the diy rear shelf. Picking up the rest of the supplies tomorrow as everything is closed today.
