UPDATE: I ordered a set of roof rails and cross bars from Rocky Road. It took a couple of weeks for the assembly to ship but I was in no particular hurry. When the components did arrive they were well-packed and damage-free. There was one thing I did notice that appeared odd to me. The forward...

Jeep KK Liberty 2011 Best solution for fitting a basket/cage to roof to hold fuel/wat

Ozzy, Welcome to the forum. Personally, I can recommend Rocky Road Outfitters roof rail and rack system. If you search around you will find complaints about their QA and customer service. In contrast, I have had excellent experience with them (N=1). I did not go with their Safari system but I...

Corral Canyon run with LostJeeps So Cal

That is very impressive indeed! I have a stock '12 Libby also. I've had it out on some muddy trails but nothing like that. Did you suffer any body damage? What modifications do you plan after this experience? Oh, and where did you get the tow hooks for your KK? Chris

Thanks, BY. I've read a few posts in other forums that confirm what I thought about these flush rails. After installation of you Mopar racks, does there remain some plastic molding on the roof-line underneath the rack?

Boo-yah, I'm interested in knowing how your project goes. Especially when you pull those cheap plastic side-bars off. I have read that these flush rails are in two pieces; the upright portion and a flat piece that "lines" the roof (for lack of a better phrase). Removing the flat piece results in...

    What's, uh....the deal?

I appreciate that you can't post links and I understand. I have done a considerable amount of searching but still have only found KJ manuals available for download. That's OK for now. The KJ manual should have a lot of the right information for the 3.7 and the transmission, etc. With the systems...

    What's, uh....the deal?

This is what I've read from reliable sources on other forums, as well. I don't mean to give the impression that I'm unhappy with my purchase. I'm not. I really like the Liberty. And, yes, I did do my research. That's how I ended up with the Liberty in the first place. I'm just a little...

    What's, uh....the deal?

Where are my zerks? What happened to the transmission dipstick? I can't even see the spark plugs! What am I supposed to do all Saturday afternoon, when I change the oil? The 2012 KK is my second Jeep vehicle. I just sold my 2000 XJ (which I dearly loved) that I had for 10 years. Always did my...

    wax on black Jeep

I just bought a '12 in Crystal Black Pearlcoat (or whatever it's called). Let me clarify...wax then seal or, seal then wax?

I suppose there's not enough clearance that you could leave each assembly intact, looping one 'arm' under the side rail then turning the assembly upright. Does that make sense? How did the painting of the galvanized go?

Great response! The links were very helpful. Those RL products are just what I would want. $450 is a lot of coin, though. How long does it take you to mount the DIY crossbars with the 2-U-Bolts-per-corner arrangement? If those are OEM side rails, it looks like there is plenty of clearance...

New Member here. I just sold my 2000 Cherokee Sport to finance the purchase of one of the last 2012 Liberties around. I'll miss that Cherokee, it was my first Jeep. I am really liking the Liberty, though. I have a question about roof racks. The Liberty I bought has flush mounted side rails...
