    What parts to order?

I've been reading and poking around but I'm left with a couple of questions. There are many differing opinions on this forum. 1 - does JBA = JeepinByAl (.com)? 2 - I'm looking at OME springs OME927 front and OME948 rear for our '04 KJ and Bilstein shocks to go with them. I see ...D916... for...

    Nancy's next adventure

When traveling with my wife, we often have to stop to examine and or identify various plants along the way. Sometimes the stops are every 100 yards or so when we're off on a 4x4 trail. Classification of plants to her are always done using the accepted scientific methods and names. To try and...

    Weak Brakes? 2003 Liberty

I would bleed the system fully before replacing the master cylinder. Be sure to get new DOT-3 brake fluid all the way to each caliper before dismissing the master cylinder as faulty. How is the fluid level in the reservoir?

    Weak Brakes? 2003 Liberty

I think that if the pedal reaches the floor, you are not going to find the problem with the booster. The first things I would do is to fully bleed all of the brake lines while checking each caliper for signs of leaking. I would guess that you have air in the system or the master cylinder needs...

    Nancy's next adventure

I guess I'm just stubborn about that. The way I see it, car is that class of vehicle primarily designed for transporting people. Cars are then split into several different classes, by body style. Sedan, Coupe, Station Wagon / SUV, Roadster, etc. While there are quite a few more and some cars...

    Nancy's next adventure

It's nice how the rear seat belts help in packing a few RC airplanes for a road trip. Two aerobatic gliders on the left and three combat planes on the right. A couple of back packs for other RC gear and SWMBO's plant hunting / seed collecting gear. Food, rain gear and room for the two dogs...

    Nancy's next adventure

We made the trip yesterday, up and back with no real problems. And now Nancy has a few of her first 'merit badges' in the form of scratches down each side from branches in the narrower spots. It's a funny thing about me and 4x4's, any other car I would be upset by scratches. But when that car is...

Went wheelin' took 6 hours to get back home

At least you're not alone in causing damage by carrying too much speed into an obstacle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeZZe5eqnpk&feature=relmfu

    What have I done?!

Driving in general is a skill. Too many people think it's their right. Neither of us even think twice about having a proper transmission in our cars. Though some of ours are automatics, the majority are standard trannys. It has taken quite a few years to bring Betsy around to understand...

    Nancy's next adventure

Last week it was a wildflower/picture taking trip for Betsy. Tomorrow, it's off to The 2011 Super77th Combat Foamy Fun Fly! This is not a real technical road, but there should be a few opportunities to scrape off some of the extra plastic. I decided that Nancy will be the car of choice to...

    U-joints

Not sure about NAPA, but I found Duralast 2-4800DG which claims to 'Fit All Locations'. I know I need to get around to replacing a few in our KJ soon, but I haven't started yet.

    What have I done?!

Betsy ( SWMBO ) and I took the KJ into town tonight for another great cheeseburger at the local fine dining establishment. Betsy was driving. There are a couple of ways to get back home. One involves about 2 miles of soft dirt/sand road and the other is about 4 miles of the same, with 1 mile of...

    The Little Things

Oops, Thread resurrection: The little things? Self locking hubs. I'm still on the fence with this one. There's always that moment of wonder when I first hit 4wd and thinking I forgot to lock in the hubs. This also eliminates our typical practical joke of unlocking your buddy's passenger side...

    Your KJ's Name!

Mine is named "Nancy" because I was worrying about the number of teenage girls, soccer moms and grandma's I see driving a KJ around here. It comes from way back when, when we would call those more-effeminate guys "Nancy boys". Other current vehicles include: '77 CJ-7 "The Jeep" '87 Trooper...

    Somethings gotta change

Off Topic Warning: Speaking of my wife, I got home yesterday and found her BMW ( '98 740i "Frau Blucher" ) just covered in mud. When I asked about it, she said "I was on the way home and saw that there was still a big mud puddle left over from the recent rain. I didn't want to change cars, so I...

    Somethings gotta change

I'm coming across as much more negative than I really am. I'll tone down my gripes and concentrate more on the positive aspects. My CJ now spends most of her life out behind the barn with a couple of other decommissioned cars. For wheelin' she rides on the trailer behind some other vehicle, and...

    Somethings gotta change

Sounds like OME is in my future. Is that a much stiffer suspension than the squishy factory ride? BTW: It is the need to add all of those aftermarket parts that is my primary beef with Chrysler. If they're going to build Jeeps and other off-road vehicles, why don't they do it well? What...
