That sounds like reasonable advice. As to Betsy taking it off-road on her own, I think that's very likely. Betsy really is not 'that way'. I usually do try and get her what she wants because she always does the same for me. It's more that I started developing a plan which did not necessarily include so much commuting / highway time on Nancy, at least not what I imagined. I'm one of those kinds of...- TomO

Point taken. But surely there a big differences between fixing up an old KJ for daily road use and weekend off-road excursion use. My wife adds about 100 miles per day to her everyday car and doesn't really need to drag a bunch of recovery equipment, survival gear, off-road tires, etc. along...- TomO

My wife mentioned that she is wanting to start using Nancy as her everyday car. This was actually the second time she brought that up. She usually gets her way with that sort of thing. I guess that means I need to re-think my plans for upgrades and mods. Why would I need the off-road...- TomO

Then like me, you just need to reprogram your brain. I drove the BMW, "Frau Blucher", last night and couldn't find the window switches at first. I hunted all over the console. Reprogramming works!- TomO

New fan resistor installed...then MELTED...help?
I'm no expert on fan problems particular to the Liberty, but two things come to mind. Possibly a shorted winding in the blower motor or a partially seized motor bushing? There is probably a resistance reading published somewhere on the 'net that will tell you what a good motor winding should read.- TomO

I'd probably get better fuel mileage...
I thought it was just me. I drive along boggling at how long the revs stay up once I step on the clutch. And I struggle to drive this car anywhere near as smooth as any of my others.- TomO

Milage
I've only put about 2000 miles on Nancy so far, but I have been seeing 21 - 22 MPG. This includes a few hours of casual off-road / low range driving also.- TomO

Two unrelated observations
Just below the speedo in Nancy ( '04 Renegade KJ ), there is a small label that says 'TYPE 35' in orange letters. When the sun hits this part of the dash, it lights up causing me to think it's an idiot light of some kind. Gets me every time. And There are two gas stations in town where I live...- TomO

What parts to order?
925/947 - I understand. Where do I get the bump stops? JeepinByAl seems to only list the 3 inch for the front ( as a direct replacement for stock ones? ) and ones for a 4 inch lift for the rear. How about the rear shocks? JBA-F4-BE5-D917-H0 or JBA-F4-BE5-2790-H0 - They both have the same...- TomO
