I meant it has the same engine as a Dodge truck of that time period...they ran the 318 for quite some time...my dad sees those same gas milage numbers in his '98 Ram, with the 5.2, sometimes worse.- thecause17

Clear Front Turn Signals ebay, avoid "Freestylemotorsports"
Mine came from a seller called "powerimport" and they were a perfect fit. One of them did leak a littile and required some extra sealing, as is the case a lot with aftermarker lights like that...but they shipped fast. I checked to see if they still had lights for liberties and they don't look...- thecause17

KJ and a manual transmission...
Drivetain loss is evident in both manuals and automatics, not just automatics...most manual transmissions exhibit somewhere in the 18% range drivetrain loss, while an automatic will lose closer to 23%. I have an automatic, if I would have found a manual, I would have probably bought it...- thecause17

Ever see a bird bomb?
I saw a car hit a pheasant once...sort of looked like that baseball vid...just a big puff of feathers. I hit a bird with my old Ranger once and never found it...just heard the thud and didn't see anything behind me...guess it must have gotten stuck and fell out later.- thecause17

Gauge bulb colors?...
As far as changing the color of the stock gauges, if it's like most other cars, the color that is there is made from the bulbs shining through a colored film on the other side of the face. I've seen people remove the film off the back before and replace the bulbs with colored bulbs, but never...- thecause17

Your comments on these wheels
Don't forget about offset. The 18's you want have a 0mm offset. If I remember right, stock offset is 41mm. That's going to bring that wheel outward over 1.6" and cause rubbing issues even with a stock tire width (which would be tough to use anyway with an 8.5" wheel) without lifting. Huh? Anyways, I agree with MoladoGuy, a fluid change would be a good idea. Most people do not get those things done. Sounds to me like it's shifting hard in the upshift back to first. If you can, watch your tach as you come to a stop(of course, watch in front of you too ;) )...you can...- thecause17
