Ok, I got the whole story now, and the vehicle is back in my hands. The shaft from the transfer case to the front axle is what got killed. The end of it furthest from the transfer case self destructed. The whole bill with parts and labour.. 350 parts, 54 labour + 13% taxes makes for $456. I got...- 4Factor

TJKJ has it correct, no-one worth their "entrepreneurship" is going to run a business at cost, doesn't make any "cents"! WHEW!!!! Looks like all's that went wrong is I grenaded the front axle. Apparently it's as bad as my mechanic's ever seen an axle self destruct (he said, kinda like a bomb went off), but it's WAY cheaper than any part of the transfer case. Perfect! That's what I needed to know... if the thing will self destruct in OD. Looks like it will, so I'll keep the OD off and just pay the cost of fuel (cheaper than a new tranny). Did I read this right?
I used a gift card at a local auto parts store to get a locking cap. I now don't use it and have gone back to the stock cap. IMO they're not worth the hassle. HOW TO: Front seat extension brackets
Just as a safety additive. The bolts you use should be of a high grade.. I'm thinking like grade 5 or even an 8.
