What did you do to your jeep today?

Yea I read recently the heat scale used by the various plug manufactures is not universal. The right up stated that NGK, DENSO "never mind here is the link https://www.densoproducts.com/product.aspx?zpid=10971 once there check out the spec page and drill down on the heat range. In short High...

What did you do to your jeep today?

For the record my old 03 liberty limited had 170,000 miles on it when it was driven back to the states. I ran Bosh dbl / single platinum plugs with no issues. The coils in the 02 liberty are oem and I can say that from the look and lack of love the previous owner gave her, oddly JAPAN is...

    Negative battery cables?

my 02 has a double nutted stud with a small hex head on the end.. I brake the connector off before I realized and a 10 min job turned into two days trying to solider a short extension back on. Mind you I went to the depot and secured a regular bolt...and installed my new connector.

    17-year-old daughter/first time driver

The Liberty has a lot of heavy metal around it....pretty safe vehicle to be in when in an accident....I ran in to the rear of a Lexus when trying to change lanes in traffic. It tor up the front clip on the my old Liberty but it buckled the trunk and both quarter panels on the Lexus and I mean...

    03 liberty crank main bearings.

I would mic it and not with a dial caliper either. The only way to know if it is over or under bearing since it did not come with bearings and could of already been machined at some point.. A lot of work to redo if you have wrong bearings or bad crank with run out. Maybe you could rent a mic...

    Help! After Trip to Stealership.....

A fluid pump / transfer pump would be helpful for all the above including doing your diffs. Power steering pump oil is cheap... I checked my local Jiffy lube for rad flush and they wanted $200 so I opted to go the long road and flush the rad out three times. twice with rad flush and once with...

What did you do to your jeep today?

What Did You Do To Your Jeep Today I replaced all coils and upgraded the plugs from NGK copper to Denso dbl Platinum. Coils are Airtex - so we shall see -note they did not ship with the marine die-electric grease the company claims they ship with, nor were they pre greased, however I...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Looks like you picked the EASY one first....ha ha - had to do that twice on my old 03.. first time I used the cheap 100$ spacer / gaskets, and after a few years had to do it again with some Felpro. I broke a cam / oil basket bolt the first time, when I refused to pay that much for valve cover...

    2008 Liberty Engine Knocking

I would not run the Jeep that is some sort of metal slap. It raises concern if that only showed up after having all that work paid for... Check the oil level. check all the spark plugs for wear / gap issue and make sure there tight. check all the coil connections at the connectors. Maybe make...

2005 no power full charge battery

My old 03 had an issue with the ignition switch, actually for a while I thought is was handy because I could pull the keys out and let it warm up locked...but that turned into a battery killing problem because the key could be pulled out when the switch was not quite lined up to off after you...

eater Core questions (yeah as always)

Maybe you replaced the thermostat already, if so was it the right temp, did you verify the temp stamped on the thermostat and not just the box? I have replaced a heater core in my o3 and it was a pita, not to hard but it took a few days and had to make room for all the parts. seats, console...

    45RFE Slipping Reverse.

I think there is two filters on the 02. One in the pan of coarse and the other some where around the cooler. Maybe some else will verify.

    45RFE Slipping Reverse.

Hey Rinst - If you only drop the pan you will still have a lot of old fluid in there.. I used a pump to pump out a couple of quarts at a time and put in more new fluid after I dropped the pan. It did take a week to replace all the fluid but it was way cheaper then a tran flush at the shop...

    Replacing transmission pan

Pull it, clean it drill wire brush and prime / paint it with some high temp paint. My 02 had a lot....... of rust but a whole lot of elbow grease and she is good to go.. Now mind you if you can see more then a layer or two of metal peeling back. Maybe some high temp cold weld would suffice of...

    Just purchased 2005 jeep liberty

A complete fluid change / flush would be a good idea, that way you will know where she stands. So many people never flush / replace any thing other then the oil.. 130k is around the mark my old 03 started needing a little love, nothing major.

    Just Jeeps

Thanks Guys - I am not a professional but rather a driveway mechanic by necessity. However the 02 Liberty project has been documented with a lot of pics so maybe I will post a thread.

    4x4 problems

Hey Silver - Never had this issue but you may try cleaning the connector with some contact cleaner / inside. Perhaps have a good look at the wires for any breaks before you replace the switch. Just a note I would check with jeep for oem part on that one. maybe change the transfer case oil as...

    Not much heat

The heater core is $40.00 or so but it's involved to replace it. I replaced one in my old 03 Liberty and it took me a few days, not to mention I found about 4 missed bolts and had to pull it a apart again. I would of left one bolt but 4.... make room for the seats, dash, console, steering...
