Speedometer Pinion Reset experiences please
I believe there's a magnetic sensor pick-up in the front diff assembly. To control the speedo for different tire sizes, the adjustment is done through the radio, which acts as an input terminal to your computer. What did you do to your jeep today?
What'd I do today? Well, umm....lessee- replaced MAP sensor, installed a G-Force chip, replaced assorted old, leaky vacuum lines, and oh yeah- a rear diff! It was ready to fall out on its own, so I thought I'd give it a little help. Nothing 160,000 miles can't wear out!- MTN GTO

Riding with rear hatch open
After 11 years of life, I guess it's time for those gas struts to go....replaced front and rear, and they were on sale at a stealership. They were cheaper in NJ than NY. Go figure!- MTN GTO

Riding with rear hatch open
Did a town run with all the windows down. Works great. Nice breeze, and no buffeting! Air movement was as though driving in a convertible. I have a stick, Yellocoyote, so the park thing won't work for me. I'll have to see if I can pop the rear glass with the engine running, and if the e-brake...- MTN GTO

Roaring noise in 4wd?
ctlberty- Yes, there is a chain inside the transfer case....but I don't think it can be adjusted. I didn't realize when first purchased, and found out about it later on. If I had my way, I'd get one of those nice Atlas transfer cases. Now, THOSE are helical cut gears. Good luck, and I know this...- MTN GTO

Key stuck in ignition (and the fix)
Whoever the manufacturer is, they are probably under contract to make most, if not all of the shift assemblies for GM, Mopar and the like. My wife's Limpala had problems with the key. What did you do to your jeep today?
Had to replace the old mill with a fresh one. Somehow the anti-freeze was being "consumed" by the engine without smoking out the tailpipe. Ended up frying the engine on the Palisades Interstate one night....and that was all she wrote. If the body wasn't in such great shape, I probably would've...- MTN GTO
