That's normal - it's just air rushing through the intake. The only way to not have that sounds woudl be to have an air intake with no bends in it.- indieaz

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
As mentioned above - sounds like thermostat was stuck open (if it was stuck closed you would have seen the temp guage rising). Thermostats are super cheap and easy to replace - you may wan tto just try swapping it out first before wasting any time at the dealer.- indieaz

If it's a rental good chance it got beat up a bit. It's unlikly all your valve seals were bad - but so long as the valve covers are off it makes sense to replace them all as they are cheap. Bad valve seals would make you lose compression - and perofrmance would suffer. This would definitely...- indieaz

Intake for Liberty's
In my opinion their test is pretty much invalidated. I'm wondering how many miles they drove to test that 2.5mpg difference. Did the same driver drive the vehicle...was the weather identical? Probably none of hte above. I can get 2.5mpg difference in my liberty between me and my wife driving...- indieaz

Yes, a recycled cat is silly. You can buy a 2.5" catco cats off ebay (high flow at that) for around $40/each...they will require welding though. A catalytic convert will not have any affect on your O2 sensors...so long as it is allowing the exhaust to flow. There is nothign magical about a...- indieaz

Yes, this is normal. It's a safety precaution to keep people who don't know what they're doing from destroying an engine by causing their valves to float revving to 8k RPMs in neutral. Looks like it's working! #-o- indieaz

Extended warranties?
We got our jeep new and paid to extend the 3/36k warranty to 5/60k. Most used car warranties only cover thew drivetrain - not electircal components and accesories. It's probably not a bad idea to get one, but keep in mind you have a deductible...and when sensors etc. break they won't be...- indieaz

Used CRD or new V6?
Often times certifgied used cars come with better powertrain warranties than new ones. This is becuase it's easy to tell whether an engine is goign to last a long time after it's broken in and some miles are on it. There's no way to tell how long a fresh engine is going to last until it's used...- indieaz

What is the average age of a Liberty driver?
Right, there are always going ot be people outside of the mean - i am on some messaes boards with people in their 50s and 60s...but they are in a very small minority. Every message board age poll i've ever seen the results are overwhelmingly int he 35 or less categories. Just like it was here...- indieaz

Again - the check engine light can go on for a lot of reasons. You will need to get it scanned again to see what code it is throwing. It could be comnpletely unrelated to what you just had fixed.- indieaz
