Prepped mine for the impending restoring the finish that was the results of the last owner.
Lots of scratches, swirl marks etc...... :893Chainsaw-Smilie-
The work will begin this week as soon as everything comes in..
Had to get all new stuff this time...
Yeah, only put it in 4WD when it's really needed, 2WD will get one pretty far with good tires and skill.
Now if the road is completely snow covered then yeah 4WD for stability. :)
Those old Military Jeeps would go just about anywhere, I know because we used them when I was in. They were just 4 cylinders with those skinny Military tires, no lift so they were pretty low to the ground.....
I think the old saying that you get what you pay for is true with tires.
Lets face it, buying tires just plain sucks, good ones are expensive and nobody likes to drop a grand on tires..
But the thing is if one is going to spend the money they might as well put good ones on so they will last...
Yep, exactly....
And get much worse gas mileage to boot...
Only reason to get something like that is if one is towing a really heavy boat or camper, then the HP would be useful.....
Used to work for Dodge, drove most of them with the Hemi and or the SRT8's... And the 3.7's and 4.7's...
I dunno about that....
A 4,000 LB SUV that can cruise all day long at 85 MPH with the cruise on and not have any shifting issues going up the grades isn't a dog.....
And I don't get jumped at stop lights very often either...... With either of my vehicles with 3.7's..... It has respectable...
Likely best just to take it in and have it looked at.
If it was 3 Quarts low, that's really bad, it only takes 5 Quarts so it's likely there is some damage in there. That and the combination of coolant being low also...
Could be a number of issues, reason why I suggested to take it in...
It's going to depend on were you buy it and how the maintenance was kept up from the last owner.
Other than that make sure you get it checked out by a mechanic BEFORE you get it.
I would also stay away from anything that has been modified.
Like any vehicle they have their little quirks, but...
Sounds like he is in denial....
Likely getting around 10 MPG or less right now and he will burn up his transmission ...
Gears make a HUGE difference in performance....
Going a lot taller without changing the gears is not good, more than 1" taller that is...
Yes I know that, as it would be more efficient overall.
With stock gearing it would really suck with 32's, no power etc and the shifting etc.
Actual really would need to be in the 3.73-4.0~ range for best performance balance.
That would be the 4.56's so you are correct.
With the current 4.10...
With 33's?
That's makes around a 3.63 actual I believe... Not too bad, still losing some power though from the 3.73 actual with OEM specs.
Would be good for the HWY, might have some shifting on the hills though.
Just did the calculations :D
That's why I was thinking 4.56's..... That would...
Not if he still has his OEM wheels etc...
That thing will be a real gas hog even after the regear... ;)
I dunno about the OP, but I wouldn't want to be buying gas for it. :D
