Best new parts and some parts suck

I have used the Raybestos Opti-cal newly manufactured calipers on several vehicles with excellent results. Unfortunately, Raybestos is part of the First Brands bankruptcy debacle, so I have no idea if and for how long their calipers will still be available. That said, with enough lead time...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Found this on a Wrangler forum — The Four Stages of Owning a Jeep 1) Hell Yeah… It's fixed!!! 2) Let's go wheeling. 3) What was that noise? 4) I hate this thing!

    Rear Upper Control Arm (Boomerang)

I will inspect the bushings on the UCA more closely. NO lift, but lousy roads and cheap parts ARE in the mix. Once again, any protocol for checking for actual play in the UCA, other then visual inspection??

    Rear Upper Control Arm (Boomerang)

Yes…LCAs were done under recall about 7 years ago after I noticed the acceleration/deceleration swaying. That was woerd enough. lol. No sway this time…just a loud and random clunk in back and a shimmy as the rear wheels "realigned" on the highway at speed. I figure that is the cheap UCA...

    Rear Upper Control Arm (Boomerang)

Giddyup is starting to experience the random loud clunk and vibration and even shimmy in the rear end at hoghway speds. It has happened twice now in the last few months and is startling. I am thinking that something with rhe cheap UCA I installed is locking up and then releasing. I am NOT...

    Rebuilding stock suspension

I regret buying the front end suspension kit and read UCA for my 2005 from 1AAuto Parts when I was short on $$ during Covid. Given the amount of work involved, I even KNEW thay I would likely regret buying more affordable (read CHEAP) parts, but I couldnt really FIND, let alone afford better...

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

This is what my local AI says about it when I asled— "can a single 12v electric cooling fan have two separate windings each activated by a separate relay to control speed?" Yes, a single electric cooling fan can have two separate windings—each controlled by its own relay—to operate at...

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

Intuitively you are correct, but practically that is exactly how the electric fan on my 2005 CRD operates.

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

Not sure … on my 2005 CRD, I simply used a bent paperclip to jump terminal #30 (constant battery power) to terminal #87 (output to device ie fan) in the fuse box right where the fan relay plugs into. I then checked fan rpm with the photo tachometer. I then jumped the second relay the same way...

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

Must be different on the 3.7 … on my 2005 2.8 CRD., thats just the way it works.

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

Like I said, I couldn't hear the 300 RPM difference between hi and lo speed either. I suggest that you buy an inexpensive photo tachometer and check again rather hten trying to replace an elusive module that might cost more then the tachometer. Something like this —

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

How did you determine that the fan didnt actually change speeds?

    2005 Elusive Fan Relay Module

On my 2005 CRD, I was surprised to learn that fan engages at high speed only when BOTH relays are engaged. ALSO, the difference in fan speed between low and high is negligible…IIRC about 300 RPM. Its actually difficult to hear the differnece, but I used a cheap RPM tool to verify that there...
