Correct blend door actuator?
Sounds like the actuator may be working correctly. Mine would only run in one direction and stutter and stop in the other. If yours worked smooth in both directions (switching polarity) when off the door post then more likely the blend doors are binding. I thought the blend switch sets the...- ltd02

Mine failed on the cold setting and I believe it is default for the system and the motor/actuator. I think every time you shut the engine off the blend doors move to cold and then reset to previous dial setting when you start up again. I guess I was lucky since it fit right on and lined up. I... -

2006 Jeep Liberty 3.7
Yeah, that's about 150k. That's about when I had a few weak ones in my 02. Actually had the #2 exhaust fall of twice. The second time I replaced several of the lifter/lash adjuster on that side and no more problems.- ltd02

Coolant leak behind timing cover.
I used the Fel Pro TCS46022 set twice in my 02 and never had an issue. Headgasket replacement the first time and crank and bearings a 4-5 years later. Sounds like something is not mating correctly.
