The original mopar rad in your 05 had trans cooler ports? If thats true, thats odd, b/c I thought only the 2002 and some 2003s had that. I just replaced the rad in my 04 with a mopar rad and it does not have those. I always wanted a mopar rad with them for the additional cooling, but after...
Mine has a rubber elbow on it so this doesn't happen. Common issue on ZJ's though, they exit inside the frame (horrible, horrible design) with no elbow. Once the seal goes bad around the drain, it comes back inside.
They do break up inside and will rattle, but I wouldn't say its common on Libertys. I have four Jeeps and I've never had a cat go bad. One has 275,000mi on it. If I did have one go bad, I would just buy a magnaflow cat and clamp it in.
If you have a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer, you can...
Thats an odd situation there. Since there is a C-clip laying there and you say the rear end went side to side, I'm thinking something happened to an axle shaft. There is also a bearing roller laying there. I'd say something got sucked between the pinion and ring gear.
There isn't a standard for volts to temp conversion, it could be anything. You would need to know the range for the sensor before you would know.
Using an infrared 'point and shoot' on the pan would work. I used a temp probe tapped to the 'measuring device' and pushed it down in the tube to...
Can you move the lever on the transfer case by hand? Please keep in mind the position next to 4low is NEUTRAL. Dont run yourself over.
You may need to jack up the rear of the Jeep and move the tires a bit to get it to shift.
Speaking of looking good, it annoys me that they made it so the writing couldnt be read once the a arm is installed. Why wouldnt they want you to be able to read it while you were laying under there?
Couldn't wait any longer, I bought the 979AA. Of all places, summit had it the cheapest after shipping n such... If it doesn't fit, well, I'll have a $150 box that I'll put in the storage building.
I have it... Seems to be working good.
I have had the big nut come loose once but I assume its b/c I dont have a wrench that big and used a pipe wrench to tighten it.
I too have installed the PML pan and it does keep the trans a good bit cooler (I have a trans temp gauge). Plus, it seemed like the stock stamped pan was always leaking, I even bought a new dorman pan and torque to the FSM specs, still seeped fluid. the PML pan is nice and dry.
That is the...
The limiting factor on the 5 speeds is the clutch. You can add all the engine cooling you want, but thats why they got the 3500lb limit.
All other KJ's with the 3.7 and the towing package were 5,000lbs.
I personally don't like towing more than ~3,500lbs with my liberty. The 3.7 (even with...
The 05+ libertys had covers over them, might could use those. Gotta wonder if Jeep decided to cover up the rockers instead of figuring out why they rusted. Its not normal for rockers to rust out so quickly.
I would suggest thoroughly coating the inside of the rockers yearly with fluid film or...
Thats what mine looks like, and looks smaller than the photos I can find online of the 979AA... I may buy one and see what its all about.
Cant believe I had never read about this before. So the new mopar cooler bolted right in place? Lines hooked right up?
The sensor is not for the 4wd. The 4wd on the KJ's is strictly mechanical and is only operated by the 4wd handle.
The sensor will tell the PCM to raise the RPMS for low speed steering if the pressure drops too low (I think).
