What did you do to your jeep today?

This happed on my Commander. It turned out that there was corrosion on the spade connector that tells the starter when to start. Check that, clean it off, and reattach… hopefully that fixes it! Mine spent 24 hours parked in front of my favorite pizza place before I could get my tools and get...

Lift faq: Read before asking questions!

In 2011 I lifted using a 4” JBA adjust a strut kit, but that isn’t made anymore. This year I needed to refresh it so went with OME springs and Bilstein 5100 shocks. With ATH 1/4” top plates, I have about 3” of lift in the front and I still have 3.5” in the rear even with the 2011 JBA springs.

Lift faq: Read before asking questions!

That’s interesting. I’ve never had any problems with my CV joints in the last 172,000 miles (the length of time I’ve had the lift). My CV’s are OEM and original. Perhaps yours are aftermarket? I am not sure how you would be able to tell at this point. I have heard that aftermarket CV’s except...

Left Turn Signal - I'm Stumped

This happened to my 08 last year. Using my multimeter I was able to check continuity between the turn signal ground and the battery. There was none. I found the ground wire connection to the body behind the headlight area and it was fine— the wires can rust off at the ground connection sometimes...

    KK reliability?

I never owned a KJ, but I am satisfied with the reliability of my KK. It's an 08 with 232,000 miles on it, so reliability at this stage is about maintenance and replacing stuff that breaks. But it is easy to work on, and yes the engine and transmission are the same as in the later KJ's. The...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Life got in the way and I haven’t done the rear shocks/springs/bumpstops yet. Maybe this coming weekend.

Can I run these on stock ride height

That is a 29.5 inch tall tire, whereas the stock ones are 29”. I think you can get away with it as long as your tires have more than 1/4” clearance when turning and articulating up and down. If your original springs have sagged a lot, consider new springs and shocks with those tires. The wheels...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Contemplating tomorrow’s project… order of operations? - jack up the back end, support frame rail with jack stands - remove rear wheels - lower the rear axle - remove shocks and sway bar links - lower more, then remove springs (bump stops are shot, so not really in the way) - remove old...

    New Here

Nice, CRD’s are rare (and cool) in the Liberty world. I would say there will be people interested here, but you will probably find more CRD people on www.LostJeeps.com. That forum seems to be where the Liberty CRD owners hang out, and I’m pretty sure you will get some traction there. Parts and...

XK Commander and WK Grand Cherokee parts cache - $135 shipped

Hi all. Maybe someone out there owns a Commander or a WK (2005-2010) Grand Cherokee and this could be of interest. They are the same under the skin, although the body styles are entirely different. I recently sold my 07 Commander and have some parts left over that I would love to send to...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I have been doing so much work on the Liberty in the last couple of years, my wife and I splurged today and got a 30-year old Craftsman toolbox from a local seller on FB Marketplace. Happy birthday to us! Super excited to have a garage now! And the toolbox fits! We recently moved into a new...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I finally collected all the pieces for a revamp of the rear springs and shock mounting. The rear shocks are new Bilstein 5100's and the springs are old 4" JBA lift springs, but the old springs still do well. (They are no longer JBA red though.) The Bilstein 5100 shock eyelets/bushing sleeves are...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Did you see any P-40’s? My Grandad flew those in China vs. the Imperial Japanese. This was after the “Flying Tigers” were absorbed into the US Army Air Corps.

What did you do to your jeep today?

It’s been an eventful week and weekend on the Jeep front for me. On Wednesday we sold our 07 Jeep Commander so we are back to having just one vehicle, the 08 KK Liberty. The Liberty had been parked for a month due to a bunch of work that needed done, but the safety issue was a rear upper...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Prof, you just inspired me to look up my 08 Liberty. October 1, 2007! She is almost 18. She’s a year older than I thought!
