Hard to believe someone hasn't seen it. One of the top movies of all time:
1 Gone with the Wind
2 From Here to Eternity
3 Johnny Dangerously
Well maybe "Dumb and Dumber" should be in there too.
Seriously it was a very funny movie.
Check the front drive shaft CV at the Tcase. It's a recessed boot that sometimes cracks and lets bad stuff in. Joint gets gummed up and noisy. Mine was tough to get out of 4wd when it was on it's way out. Also check the bushing where the shift cable attaches to the Tcase. It can wear and cause...
Pulled it up on some ramps and crawled all around under mine. Still trying to locate this soft knock. Not very loud but still there even when warmed up. Still not positive it's from the bottom. Might be some type of sound conduction down from the sketchy top end. confused2.gif
Right side cam...
I'm hoping you get good news on Monday. Keep us posted.
I'm not expecting to be happy with what I find. I'm going to start fiddling with mine tomorrow. I didn't drive it today but yesterday it was rather quiet with just the tensioner/chain chatter. The knock was almost silent and it was...
Thanks for the reply Bob! I definitely have some timing chatter but the knock sounds just like yours did. Sounds exactly like your video and almost disappears when warmed up. Feel fortunate that I didn't just throw new heads on this thing yet. I'll have to pull it first and see if I can find...
I ran Bosch Platinum+4 for over 70k and just put the NGK coppers back in. The old plugs looked fine with very little wear if any and the good "residue" on 5 of them (#1 plug was a bit iffy). I immediately noticed a smoother idle and I think it starts better. My gas mileage went from about 12-13...
Not sure about the hose source but I've got 160k on mine and the heater hoses are original. They still seem pretty hearty. I'd probably just go with an all rubber replacement if I had to change them.
If the gasket is "blown" and currently compromised then it will likely get worse and I'd have to say it's unlikely you'd be able to drive it with "no problems". Sounds like you inherited the problem but the question is: What is it doing now, or how is it leaking? Should get more details. I don't...
I'd just keep checking the fluids and watch the temp gauge. I'd ask the ones who said the HG is blown why they feel that is so. What was their method of diagnosis? Get a test kit for the coolant to see if there are exhaust gases in it.

Not long. I got a CEL from the fan relay, then I saw the useless temp gauge start to move and pulled into a lot. DC traffic!! I sat a while engine off and the coolant was boiling and now low. Managed to add some (I always have a 50/50 HOAT mix with me) and waited a bit. Then drove about 8 miles...
Bob, I saw this video from you on another thread a while back and have been trying to determine if I've got this sound. I cooked my headgaskets a few years ago and am trying to determine if I should just replace the heads or the whole engine. Anyway, Mine makes a bit of chatter from the heads...
Well I have blown a headgasket in my 02 and if it blows, the coolant will either be "boiling" from the exhaust or going somewhere. My coolant went into the oil. Worst case I guess. It may go into the cylinders (white exhaust smoke) or it may just run out (external). You would likely have some...
I did a reman 136 Denso from Rock Auto a couple years ago. Thought about the 160 but since the factory one was 136 I just went with it. Haven't really added anything yet to need an upgrade.
