As the title says I built a sub box for my Jeep and added a set of door speakers. The sub and amp are some old school MTX Thunder gear - a 10" sub and a 100w amp. I built the box to fit in the back up against the side panel on the left so it wouldn't take up too much space in the back. I do wish I was able to get some better matching carpet, but I am limited in choices due to where I live. The amp is mounted under the rear seat. I put a set of Kicker 6" coax's in the front doors along with some sound deadener to help with any rattles.

I will say I am actually considering taking the Kickers back out. Listening to the system without the sub running the first thing I noticed was a huge drop in mid bass response from the front door speakers. I did double check speaker polarity and phase and it all seemed to be ok. It is a little better with the sub running but there is definitely some missing mid bass response.

One other small mod I did that really made a difference in the sound of the system was I replaced the small caps on the dash speakers - from the factory they are crossed over around 10k - which really limits their output to just the few top octaves of sound. I replaced the caps with some nice little caps in a different value, thus lowering the crossover point of the speakers down to around 500hz - this really helps bring the soundstage up from the doors and more across the dash. Sure this isn't a high end stereo system and I am still running the factory deck, but these small and inexpensive mods help make it more enjoyable to listen to.

great sub setup! did you calculate the air space for that sub box? matching the sub woofer to proper air space can really change the way they perform and sound

500 hz might be a pretty big bite for the dash speakers, are they holding up ok?
