Engine Oil Recommendations Please

Hi everyone!
I would appreciate some engine oil recommendations for my 2003 Jeep Liberty KJ 2.8 CRD ( 4x4). I serviced my Jeep at the dealer up until now and did my oil changes there, they used SELENIA Multipower 5W30 . I relocated recently and there's no dealer close by and i'm not yet familiar with any local garages. So i'd like to inform myself and buy the oil upfront.
Some resources say to use 0w40 or 5w40 ( Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel ) according to the owner manual ( i don't know where mine is ...lost in the move maybe..)

I changed the oil about 2 yrs ago but i barely did 3000 miles in this time, mostly city drive but not during busy traffic and a few times on highway. I was abroad alot so the car was parked in the garage.

I live in an area where temps range from F85 to 5..

Should i get the Mobil 1 0w40 or stick to the 5w30? Any help is appreciated. I want my Jeep to stay in the best condition possible, and i'm learning to do some maintenance myself too.

Shell Rotella T6 synthetic SAE5W-40.

Supposedly concocted for semi-trucks racing up Pikes Peak. The oil would be boiling when the trucks got to the peak.

Export CRDs called for 5W40 synthetic. Same engine.

I used the same oil in my CRD when I had it. I always liked it.

Why not order a case of the stuff the dealer used on your Liberty and some good filters? If it's worked well for you, why change?

I can, but i figured i'd try something else because lots of people suggest 5w40 or 0w40. Just unsure of the brand. I will order the filer as well, can't find MOPAR but i found MANN.

The owner's manual (US) called for 0W40 Exxon Mobile 1 synthetic. I think the zero weight was just to maybe help a little on miles per gallon.

I’ve been using AMSOIL Signature Series 100% Synthetic 0W-40 in our ‘05 2.8l CRD since we bought it in ‘08 with 23k on it. Changes every 6.5k miles. Live in AK so the 0 helps with those cold starts at -25F during the two months of winter when it drops down that cold. Have 120

Thank you for your suggestions! I ordered 5w40 and a MANN fuel filer. Any idea where i can find a digital copy of the owner's manual? I tried Jeep and techautority.com but they don't have it. Basically they told me they can't help. Anyone here might be able to share it?

I finally found a local repair shop and took the Jeep in for the oil change, got everything i needed, oil, fuel & oil filters. All went well until he was done and it was time to start up.. Didn't happen. I tried several times but it wouldn't start. It was making the sound but not starting ..
The guy changed the fuel filter pipes around, not sure if he thought he put them back wrong or what, but still nothing. Finally another mechanic looked at it and concluded there's probably air trapped in.
He released some valves at the fuel injector (i think that's what he said..) , released some air and fuel started to come in, after trying 2 -3 more times it finally worked.
At this point i was thinking they messed up something, because the car worked perfectly fine before and this is a simple oil change..
Not sure how the air got in the system, i never had this happen, i thought maybe he should've done something about the pressure / air before replacing the fuel filter..?

I was next to the guy the whole time, he seemed to know what he's doing..but then again..

Anyway,i'm hoping there's no damage or possible issues after this. I drove back home, it drives smooth and much nicer than before. It starts up fine, but i'm just a little concerned..

A garage that doesn't know that a diesel needs the air bleeding from the fuel system?? Don't think I would be going back there!

I won't go there again. Sorry I did in the first place, they had good reviews and I'm new to this city so I had no idea..

Any idea if there can be any engine damage?
Once he released those valves and air came out it started up right away. Before that I didn't crank for more than 10 sec at a time ( I know that much..)
On my drive back home everything seemed fine, but I don't want to take any risks. If there can be any damage I'd rather platform the car and take it to a dealer for a checkup.
I have very low mileage and the engine is in top shape so I wouldn't want anything to happen because of an oil change...

Any thoughts are appreciated!

It won't have done much harm I wouldn't imagine, you don't really want to run the high pressure fuel pump without fuel for long though because the diesel lubricants it.
