That’s awesome, however my Jeep doesn’t have the rails just plastic number type strips along the the rooftop. Which is what I want to replace.

Ah. Those can come off, only held on by tape. The roof studs are under them. Find a set of Mopar side rails at a local junkyard, and install whatever crossbars you want.

Honestly, I got tired of having to hunt for quality Liberty parts in that department. I just went online and found a fj cruiser roof rack, fits the same dimensions and actually has lots of people still making accessories for them.

The only other option I have found that doesn't break under stress (my stock ones totally bent and snapped) are these.
$230 bucks for two metal tubes was too much for me though. So my recommendation is get some sheet metal screws, 2 inch bolts, a metal drill and spend 100 bucks on a used rack from a more popular vehicle.

OK. lots of TLDR here so...anyway..

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the OE rack other than it lacks cross rails. The weight limit has to do with the strength of the actual roof and the ROLLOVER rating. The Liberty has a high center of gravity, that gets worse with a lift...hence 150lbs max. Sure you can do more weight, but it makes your vehicle dangerous to drive. As someone that actually does "jeep stuff" fully loaded with camping and scientific equipment on a regular basis, here is what I suggest.

Step 1.
Here's what you need for reliable and properly fit cross rails. I have used them for nearly a year and had all sorts of stuff loaded up on them in the basket. They fit like they were designed for the liberty because they were. In Germany. Don't let the price fool you.

Step 2.
Add your Choice of roof rack. I use this guy currently but will be upgrading to something a bit wider in the near future.

Step 3.
Relax. Problem solved.

Forget about the standard flimsy KJ roof rails that are only designed for smooth blacktop & break very easily. I fitted fitted a set of Rhino Rack RTV1480mm Roof rack rails, these things strengthen the roof & allow you to fit all types of racks & baskets to them, there are other brands out there making a similar product

My 2011 Jeep Liberty didn't come with any type of rail system. Is this the complete system, or just attaches to already installed rails. Will the Rhino Rack RTV1480mm Roof rack rails fit my 2011 if its the whole system and does it require removal of headliner to install? They look awesome.
