Also in good news, an old buddy ASE mechanic of mine that I drank away years ago is going to fix the ABS system for me at his shop. He was my best man, so I’m kind of excited to hang out and chat. Barring a stumble or two, apparently folks wanna hang out now that I’m not booze crazy.

Since my Jeep is totaled, I took off the transmission, transfer case, and front skid plates in preparation for giving it to the insurance company. I still need to take off the tow hooks and the gas tank skid plate which I'll do tonight or tomorrow. Anything else I should take off the the insurance company won't notice/miss?

About a year ago and there were feral cats all over the compound I was living on. They're good with the baby mambas (no joke in the rainy season) and can dispatch them with relative ease. My dog loved to chase the cats around the yard but she's a dachshund mix and they were all way too quick for her. Went out to go to work one morning and something prompted me to open the hood before I started the Jeep. Got out and opened it up and there's three kittens sitting on top of the engine looking at me. Got one out by the tail and the other two went down low by the firewall on the driver side where there's some room. Came back with a bucket of cold water and that's all she wrote. Don't know what made me look, but very glad I did.

I'd take anything I thought had any conceivable value or future use.

We only had red squirrels (dunno 'bout any sub-species) but few of them survived the onslaught of the "imported" American grey squirrel (never expected to learn about wildlife on a Jeep forum but all this talk of subs with strange sounding (to me) names comes as a revelation.

As far as the ol' lady was concerned they were all tree rats, I think, and she referred to pigeons as flying rats - or some such.

"called them that back in PA" reminded me that something I've noticed from forums but more particularly U-tube channels is how some terms/expressions I always considered peculiarly English enjoy currency in the US (or, at least, some parts) - & now I'm beginning to wonder if my care translating my posts, particularly the names of tools & car parts, into "American" is misconceived, because it seems that in same places the English term, or pronunciation, is in use.

how much to get you to pull the between door seals (the vertical ones that attach to the leading edge of the back doors) and all the little screw covers in the door panels, stick 'em in a flat rate box and ship 'em to me? :D

I should be careful to say that I do not know for sure and would not want to talk anyone into getting into trouble. Having said that, it is what I would do and would fall back on: Totalled means "Total", right? As in, a complete loss.

Yep. I pull everything I could from the suspension and drive train to fender flares, mirrors, light assemblies. They are just gonna send it to the crusher.

Looks like my 02 bit the bust yesterday.
I was on the last 30min of the mail route and cylinder #1 let go.
Poor thing started bucking and stalling as I accelerated off a side road onto the highway. Gently got to my next side road and stopped. 3 key switches and had p0301. Got out, unhooked the battery, checked my connections, hooked battery back up and started it back up, still misfire but no CIL. Shaking and sputtering drove about another mile and CIL came back on. Made the last 30 mailboxes and drive it back to the office. Unhooked batt again. Did my end of day crap and drove it home.

Today I did a wiring check, with the meter, spark plug, coil, and injector to no avail. Taking it to my buddy in the morning and have him double check me and do a compression check but

I'm sad

Not sure how well the insurance company would take being left with a few broken parts & damaged panels attached to a gutted shell - but, yeah, I agree with the sentiment/advice.
Take springs and shocks and let them pick up a lowrider.

Flat floor Mark 4 mod 1 is complete. Even integrated my subwoofer. Weighs roughly 60lbs (70 with subwoofer)and you can’t tell from the photos but it folds up into an easy to move/store format Hans to hidden hinges and lock pins. It’s not pretty, but is functional as hell!

The 03 took out a deer a few months back at 60 MPH
Today the 05 played catchup and took one out at 45 MPH a 1/2 mile from work
