Heat issue

So about 4 month ago I started seeing little puddles of coolant under my truck . I was busy so I kept a eye on it till I had some time . I traced the leak to the overfill hose & clamped it better. Stopped for about a week then started noticing coolant again , this time traced to the waterpump. Replaced it and I live in Cleveland & it's getting cold in October. So now all new coolant , waterpump in & no heat unless accelerating . Bled the system of all the air , same issue, replaced the thermostat, same issue , flushed the system , same issue . Now it's January in Cleveland & freezing & I only get heat while accelerating. Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome, Are you showing normal operating temp? How many miles are on your Jeep? It sure sounds like you still have air in the system. There are some good links in the how to section on getting air out. It can be frustrating for sure. I would back flush the heater core and re bleed the system. You can use clamps on the heater core hoses so you don't have to drain the whole system. Use distilled water. Plenty of youtube videos also for heating issues on our Liberties.

Hey , how you doing? My Jeep has 90,000 miles , never once has it overheated always stays a little under half on the gauge or 195-200 degrees. I'll check youtube for them vids . I appreciate it.

I have a 2011 also and the heat completely stopped working at 105k. It took a full system flush and a backflush of the heater core to get it working again. It puts out 182 from the vents now. I also had a blend door calibration done during troubleshooting of the issue. Blend doors can also be a problem fortunately it wasn't on mine.

What brand of thermostat did you use
These are hard to get all air out at times, thinking you have it but still doing what you are saying

Yeah I'm gonna try the back flush & I don't remember what brand of thermostat I got . I've never had to mess with blend doors in any vehicle , not familiar with them or location . Will the cause a issue like this?

I don't remember the brand . But yeah I spent hrs last night bleeding air out & still blows cold.

Since you get heat while accelerating I would not think they are the issue. If you have a temp gun check the heater hose temperature at the fire wall. That will show you the inlet and outlet.

As mentioned if you are not getting heat into the cabin it could be a Blend Door problem...several posts on this forum on how to fix it...does not look like fun!
But if lack of cabin heat issue only popped up after you drained and refilled the coolant, replaced thermostat etc. then the problem probably is related to the coolant/thermostat etc.;)

Thank you all for the advice . I got it working great again , back flushed the core & flushed the system again , bled out the air & now it's perfect .

Good news, mine is still lukewarm at the best of times.
Going to do another back flush, just need to find some type of chemicals to help me along the way and not damage the heater core internals.

I've heard of people using CLR in the heater core. They put in, soak 3-5 minutes, the back flush thoroughly. I haven't personally tried this though.
