Fuel pump, bad gas, fuel filter.
When is the last time you gave it a set of spark plugs.
Maybe pull them and see what they look like.

I know that on the KJs the Cam and Crank sensors can fail under high heat...sometimes without posing a code!

Maybe the KK has similar issues;)

I came here looking for help with a similar issue. Does yours continue cranking after you let go of the key and eventually stop?

I have a 2011 and have experienced something similar. In my case it’s the security system and a failing key or Wireless Control Module (WCM).

When you turn the key to the run position or all the way to start a red dot light will illuminate on the dash for a few seconds and then turn off once the WCM recognizes the key. If the key is not recognize ECU will shut down the fuel circuit. This can happen before the engine starts and just crank or start momentarily and then shut off.

In my case it seems to happen randomly when I run into a store or pickup take out where I shut the engine off and then attempt to restart just minutes later. Like you mentioned, I wait 15 minutes or so then it fires up. I found that only one of my two keys has this issue and just don’t use that key.

Keeping an eye on the security light on the dash might help show if this might be your issue.
