Realistically, in 145,000 miles of driving a KJ, ThunderbirdJunkie never once found it necessary to use cogs and high beams.

I'd like to use it for my off-road trips at night (along with my roof lights)....far from necessary, I just like to light s#!t up at night ;)

Thanks for this. Took me about 10 minutes, I bent the connection 1 over and soldered a wire to it, wrapped electrical tape, plugged it in, ran it up to the white/orange at the switch and soldered, tested, and reassembled. Can't believe I waited this long.

Thanks for all the info in this thread. I just did this mod on our '05 Renegade and it works great. Neal identified the correct wire at the multifunction switch connector and that helped make it easy. Instead of running the 3 short wires and tying the relay away from the panel as shown, I just soldered a wire to connector #1, bent the connector around 180 degrees to the outside and plugged the relay back in. There was plenty of room in the relay socket to allow this without any trimming. If anyone is interested in a picture of the relay, I could easily take one and post a link here.

Been a while but would still like a picture, planning on doing this shortly :)

That would be a good picture to have for reference. I would think that you could also use one of those little brass connectors that is designed to fit in behind relays and fuses and provides a second blade terminal for connecting to. Run that up to the multifunction switch and be done.

Does anyone know, or has anyone taken measurements to see what additional current load this puts on the vehicle's alternator?

I'm wondering how much electrical strain this adds, having 220w of bulbs burning all at the same time. Similar load to running low beams with a pair of 55w off-road lights.

I got mine from Steve White Motors via eBay. I can't find them now, though...

Sorry for the ancient thread revival but. . .
The OP's link no longer works, and I would really like to do this hack on my 05!
Anyone have the write-up handy?

Thank ya!

On my 2002...i pulled the relay and made 3 jumper wires..they are about 6 inches long and go from the relay pins to the corresponding pins in the fuse box, then solder a wire to the relay ground pin and run that to a chassis ground.

I can get the pin numbers from the relay if you need...

I think it was two of the pins in the top horizontal row, 1 of the others and then ground
