Just don't use lunch box lockers, hate them, like breakfast cereal, snap, crackle and pop all the time
I have good luck with DTTs, ( Detroit Tru Tracs ) never notice them when you don't need them and when you do a little brake pedal to get them locked and ya go
03 and 04 both have them front and rear for years now
ARB has a very good locker ran it for year in the rear of the 04 until someone offered me way more than I had in it LOL

To add some more info, I ran DTTs in the 3 XJs I had plus one of my Early Broncos

One Bronco had a lunch box in it when I bought it, drove me nuts ( that is the real reason I am the way I am now !!! ) LOL ;)

hello. running an ausie locker on the rear and DTT on the front. If you seriously intend to go offroad- and i do mean seriously-

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

a limited slip will only get you so far. especially if you are into rock crawling. if its snow and mud and light stuff- a DTT will be just fine.

I have had lunchbox lockers on all my past rigs and my current jeep. seen to many ARB failures on the trail. like tom said- you will get the odd bang. but it happens once in 3 weeks to a month. i can live with that- cheap bastard that i am.

Seen way too many Aussies fail over the years, they say they fixed the problem but ......
I took one in on trade several years ago, guy bought it , even with me telling him there were issues, then he bad mouthed me on every site he could when it broke.
I didn't want to sell it in the first place with all the issues they were having

I 100% agree with tom on the lunch box lockers. Had the powertrax no slip in my KJ for a few years and it was terrible. I could live with the clicking and popping but at times it would be unlocked and I was be stuck in the rain on asphalt spinning 1 tire and not able to move without putting it in 4wd. The issue when its unlocked, its putting 100% of the torque to 1 wheel instead of splitting it up like an open diff would do. Its embarrassing having to use 4wd on asphalt... And the sudden locking when pulling out. Sometimes I would need to gun it to pull out if traffic was coming and it would do the 1 wheel peel then suddenly lockup. It ****** the Jeep HARD.

I put spartain lockers in mine, but I only use mine for offroad so its not a big deal. If it was a daily driver, the clicking would get on my ever loving nerve lol..
