I have been looking all over the forums, and I keep seeing "Remove the Jeep balls on the rear diff". However I am wondering.

1st What do they do?
2nd Are they important! (I would say no, since everyone says castrate it lol.)

I just wanted to get some clarification before giving it a sex change.. LOL

Thanks

You must be registered for see images attach

It is suppose to act as a vibration dampener.
Feel free to remove it and try it out.
I would still keep it as a spare part, just in case one day you may wish to re-install it.

I have at least 20 sets of " balls " in the junk pile
Never have needed to reinstall any of them, removed when lifting KJs and threw them out the door

Heck, I was going to black ball them, remove them, paint them gloss black or flat black and re-install the balls.
