Picked up a used 2011 a month ago with 100k miles. Wife wanted a bigger lifted truck, I wanted a small sports car to build on. We ended up compromising. I get to tinker, she gets to feel safe in a bigger vehicle.

While not my first choice for a next car, I've already come to love it. I have had a craving for some offroading that our old 2wd explorer can't handle, so even though there isn't much to change under the hood, I have some work to do lift wise.

We have agreed to go the OME route and put on some 247/75/16s when the funds are available. At some point a re-gear is in the future as well. Got all the ideas from lurking here.

So far, all we have done though is install the HD cooling fan. More for drawing air through the ****** cooler than anything. It dropped the running temps from about 210 engine 190 trans in 90 degree weather to 198/180 tops going uphill in 107 degree weather.

The carfax had all the maintenence records, plus had paper copies. Was surprised the dealer had them. We are the second owners, and it looks well taken care of.

I look forward to learning more about it, and giving it a long life.

Welcome, very clean looking KK.
I think you will like the Jeep a lot more once the OME lift is installed. It will ride better than new, & give you the extra ground clearance.
What skid plates does it have?

There are no skid plates on it. Adding some is an idea I am toying with.

Did they come stock with any? I didn't look too hard underneath. I could have missed them. I'm used to seeing cheap plastic ones on cars, and didn't see anything like that.

Looks like it has the mopar gas tank skid plate. None of the other's. At least those ones don't cost 300+

I highly doubt it has a gas tank skid plate unless someone just installed that one
They are sort of hard to install ( gas tank one ) so most do not do them leaving them exposed to damage

Maybe it's the stock bracket? There is a shaped metal plate around the tank. The mopar one looks the same, so maybe I'll save for an after market one.

I'm not looking to go places where I'll be sliding on rocks, but I would rather have it and not need it.

I'm always happy to have full skids just driving down even main roads with junk falling off of trucks etc
I had made full skids for my 69 Bronco back in the early 70s and sure was glad to have them when hitting a transmission ( 4 speed Munice ) that bounced off a truck LOL in front of me

I actually ran over a dear that jumped in front of me in my mazda 6. Skid plate saved the oil pan, filter, and ****** from its skull. Only knocked my alignment out a bit. I am a firm believer in skid plate protection.

Looking more into it, it's just the stock bracket on the gas tank. I can't find a mopar one in stock as its discontinued, and no luck yet on after market. I'll probably have to get a buddy to help fabricate some. I can find plenty for the KJs though...
