There is no clear coat on the roof which doesn't bother me, cuz I rarely see it. The hood however is losing it's clear coat too. I tried to get ahead of it with hood vents and then vinyl stickers, but was too late. So now I'm planning to rattle can it like a jerk with wheel paint for it's durability.

Thought of trying to sand it down a bit and trying to redo the clear?

I put some emergency supplies under the front seats and found the plugs for the seat wiring are planted straight up and down. They are kind of in the way, and they could end up broken, it seems. I rotated them 90 degrees and zip-tied them up and out of the way. The next step will probably be finding/making trays that fit well under there.

drove it to get replacement bike tires for the kid's bike, and 2 new tubes for mine. We've had 4 flats this year so far.

Currently swapping the drivers rear wheel bearing, and trying out Lucas gear oil while I'm at it. Gonna quit for a couple hours, currently 101, heat index 107. Fajitas and beer time.

I might be hearing the whirrr of a wheel bearing above 40 mph. Not sure which corner, but it’s not connected to engine rpm. It’s also not the CV on the front drive shaft going bad because the rubber boot is still intact. I don’t think it’s a front wheel CV either because it’s not a clicking noise. Hmmmmmmmm....

It’s not too bad yet. Also, with my old noisy tires I definitely wouldn’t have heard it at this stage. New quiet tires reveal issues?

Edit: after driving today I suspect passengers front

Once a wheel bearing starts making that grrrrr or hummmm or howling noise (not sure how to describe it), how long before catastrophic consequences? Will it catch on fire or something? Should I be avoiding driving until I can fix it?

Picked up the wifes 02 from the dealer. They want $1400 to replace the evaporator core, the wife said nope.

Nice project to get down and perspnal with the kj. Do the heater core at the same time. It takes a while. Nothing exceptionally hard. Gratifying as hell to get it back together!

I've considered it, but it's not a show truck, so I'll take the easy way. Plus I think I'll like the look of a flat black hood with the vents
This is one of those easy-actually-harder ways ;) I've been there a bunch.
Obviously I haven't seen your car, but an acrylic laqour clear coat is likely your friend (gloss or matte). Sand with 2 stages minimum (maybe 400 to blend and 1000 to cover), do the whole hood, wet wipe between (or just wet sand), degrease (dont skip this), then clear spray (rattle can) the whole hood, then polish with cloth and cream if gloss. Thats the minimalist DIY auto paint method I've had success with personally. Thats like $50 all in and actually has a chance of lasting a while. Maybe 3h of work plus some waiting between clear coats. Super worth it. Paint issues can really drag on if you make poor choices... and simple paint cans are nowhere near up to the task of car hoods. Think of the heat, the cold, wind, rain. That has been my experience anyway.
